2nd June : Executive Committee cum GPCon 2015 Organising Committee meeting was conducted at IMA House, Kanippayyur.
5th June : The World Environment Day was observed by IMA Kunnamkulam on 05.06. 2015 at Kunnamkulam.
- TREE PLANTING AT IMA HOUSE, KANIPPAYYUR BY HARITHA COMMITTEE OF WIMA
The Day’s programmes started at 8 am. with a tree planting ceremony at IMA House, Kanippayyur as part of the Haritha Project organized by WIMA Kunnamkulam. The function was inaugurated by Dr. R. Padmasini, Chairperson of WIMA Kunnamkulam. Dr. Rini Ravindran, Convenor of WIMA Kunnamkulam, Dr. Smitha K.S, Treasurer of WIMA Kunnamkulam, Dr. P. Sundaresh Kumar, IPP and Dr. Paul C. Raphael, Senior vice president led the tree planting team.
- b) DECORATIVE PALM PLANTING AT IMA HOUSE, KANIPPAYYUR ORGANISED BY IMA KUNNAMKULAM
At 10 am. planting of decorative palms was organized at IMA House, Kanippayyur by IMA Kunnamkulam. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Koshy George T., President of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr. P.K. Saju, Secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam, Dr. P.A. Mohamed Nisar, Coordinator of World Environment Day Programmes and Dr. Shameer C. Sulaiman, Treasurer of IMA Kunnamkulam spoke on the occasion.
- c) VECTOR CONTROL PROGRAMME AT MARY MATHA BOYS’ COTTAGE, AKKIKKAVU
At 7 pm. a function was organized at Mary Matha Boys’ Cottage, Akkikavu as part of the vector control programme by IMA Kunnamkulam and the Charity Wing of IMA Kunnamkulam. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Koshy George T., President of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr. P.K. Saju, Secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam welcomed the audience.
After the official inauguration, a HEALTH EDUCATION CLASS was taken by Dr. Koshy George on the importance of vector control.
Dr. P.A. Mohamed Nisar, Chairman, Charity Wing of IMA Kunnamkulam conducted the DISTRIBUTION OF MOSQUITO COILS to the inmates as a part of the VECTOR CONTROL PROGRAMME of IMA Kunnamkulam. Mr. Saji, Director of Mary Matha Boys’ Cottage Trust proposed the vote of thanks.
- d) VECTOR CONTROL PROGRAMME AT THIPPILISSERY VILLAGE (ADOPTED VILLAGE FOR AROGYAMYTHRI PROJECT OF IMA KUNNAMKULAM)
At 8 pm. a function was organized at Thippilassery, the adopted village of Arogya Mythri Project of IMA Kunnamkulam as part of the vector control programme by IMA Kunnamkulam and the Charity Wing of IMA Kunnamkulam. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Koshy George T., President of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr. P.K. Saju, Secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam welcomed the audience.
After the official inauguration, a HEALTH EDUCATION CLASS was taken by Dr.Nileena Koshy, Professor of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Thrissur and Past Chairperson and Senior Member of WIMA, Kunnamkulam on the Practical Methods of Vector Control in the Village Setting.
Dr. P.A. Mohamed Nisar, Chairman, Charity Wing of IMA Kunnamkulam explained the objectives of the vector control programme of IMA Kunnamkulam. DISTRIBUTION OF MOSQUITO COILS to the inmates of the village as a part of the VECTOR CONTROL PROGRAMME of IMA Kunnamkulam was done by Dr. Koshy George T., President of IMA Kunnamkulam. Mr. Premadasan, Village Representative proposed the vote of thanks.
14th June :IMA KUNNAMKULAM PROGRAM FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED – MEDICAL CAMP FOR DEAF AND DUMB CONDUCTED BY IMA KUNNAMKULAM AT UNITY HOSPITAL, KANIPPAYYUR .
The camp was organised in association with Welfare Party of India, Kunnamkulam branch and SKDP, the association of the Deaf and Dumb. The camp was formally inaugurated by Dr.Koshy George T, the President of IMA Kunnamkulam. The presidential address was translated into sign language by Mr.Badarudheen, the president of Welfare Party of India, Kunnamkulam branch. In his presidential address Dr Koshy George thanked the Welfare Party for giving IMA Kunnamkulam a chance to serve the people who are lateralised and often neglected in the society. He also thanked Unity Hospital for providing the venue for the camp.
Dr.Baiju Ashraf, Physician, Ansar Hospital and Dr.Joshy Thomas, Physician, Unity Hospital examined the patients . Patients conveyed their complaints using sign language and by writing down on a paper. It was a painful experience for the doctors to see the apparently healthy looking people finding it difficult to express their feelings and sufferings.
Free blood sugar check up was done and medicines were dispensed free of cost. At the end of the camp we felt gratified for the work we had done and all those differently abled people were very thankful to us. They even wanted to take selfies with the IMA president. Finally they invited us to take a group photo. We could do all these activities only through IMA and we felt proud to be members of this noble association. Dr.Saju.P.K, Secretary IMA Kunnamkulam, Dr.Varghese Paul and Dr. Asok Varma, Past presidents of IMA Kunnamkulam and Dr.Varghese Job, Auditor of IMA Kunnamkulam participated in the camp and helped in the organisation of the function.
15th June : IMA Kunnamkulam Program for Elderly Care – Special Report on the observation of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day ( WEAAD ) at Deenabandhu Old Age Home, Akkikavu .
We observed WEAAD by visiting Deenabandhu Old Age Home at Akkikavu. The program started with a formal inaugural function, at the prayer hall of the old age home, which was presided over by Dr.Koshy George T, the President of IMA Kunnamkulam. The meeting was inaugurated by the past president of IMA KSB, Dr.K.V.Devadas who congratulated IMA Kunnamkulam on this noble venture. Felicitations were offered by Dr.T.R.Louis, the senior most male doctor of Kunnamkulam and Dr.Paul C Raphel, Past president of IMA Kunnamkulam. Deenabanhu director Fr.Raju P George expressed vote of thanks and he requested IMA Kunnamkulam, to continue such home visits so that those bedridden patients can avail of these services.
A token donation from IMA Kunnamkulam was handed over to the director of Deenabandhu old age home by Dr. T R Louis. And as a token of appreciation of the sincere work done by the Fr. Raju P Geroge , a memento was presented to him on behalf of IMA Kunnamkulam by Dr Paul C Raphael. After the inaugural function , a medical checkup was arranged for the inmates . Dr Mohammed Nissar , Dr T R Louis , Dr Koshy George T and Dr Saju P K examined the inmates . Bed ridden patients were examined at the bedside . Free Blood Sugar estimation was also done .
17th June :Arogyamythri 6th interventional program, Arogyajalakom school improvement program and Literary Club Reading Enhancement Program held at Emmanuel LP School, Chittanjoor the adopted school of IMA Kunnamkulam .
On 17.6.15 , a function comprising three programs was conducted at our adopted school, Emmanuel LP School, Chittanjoor at 2.30 pm.
The function started with a welcome speech by the headmistress Mrs.Sony Teacher. Then Dr.Koshy George T, the president of IMA Kunnamkulam inaugurated the program. The President the conducted the inauguration of the three programs of the day:
- Arogyamythri Health Check up Camp and Issuing of Health card.
The President explained the layout of the health card to the parents and asked them to preserve it carefully and send it for all further check ups arranged by the IMA. He conducted the inauguration of the Health Card by handing over the cards to Dr. K. Rajagopalan, Paediatrician.
- Literary club initiative : Contribution of one year subscription of Mathrubumi Daily.
The President said that overall development involves a thorough knowledge of what is happening in the world around so that the children will develop into responsible citizens of the nation. It is with this intention that the IMA has decided to donate one year’s subscription of Mathrubhumi daily to the school. He congratulated the Literery Club of IMA Kunnamkulam for taking up this responsibility. Dr. Koshy told the students that it was their responsibility to see to it that their teachers read at least one item from the news paper to them every day. The formal inauguration of the literary club initiative was done by handing over the first copy of Mathrubhumi daily to the school headboy.
- Arogyajalakam initiative:- Involving the Ward Member
The President congratulated the Arogyajalakam committee of IMA Kunnamkulam for having involved the local authorities to ensure the development of the school and for obtaining better hygienic conditions for the children. He invited the Ward Member Mrs.Geetha Sasi to address the children and parents. Mrs. Geetha Sasi pointed out the improvements in the school after IMA has adopted it.
Mrs. Jancy, the PTA president offered felicitations. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Saju.P.K, Secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam.
All the students of the school were examined by Dr.Saju.P.K, Paediatrician, Ansar Hospital,Perumpilav and Dr.Rajagopal, Paediatrician ,Royal Hospital ,Kunnamkulam. Health parameters were recorded in Arogyamythri Health cards which were issued to all the students of the school.
21st June : Health Awareness and Checkup Programme conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam for the youth of Punnayurkulam on at Shanthi Hospital, Punnayurkulam in association with Saparya Grameena Vayanasala and Shanthi Hospital, Punnayurkulam organised by the Act force, IMA AMS and Arogya Jalakam Commitee of IMA Kunnamkulam.
On 21.6.15 , IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a Health Awareness and Check up Program in association with SAPARYA Grameena Vayanasala , Punnayurkulam and Santhi Hospital, Punnayurkulam. The Program was held at Shanthi Hospital, Punnayurkulam at 10 am on Sunday, 21.06.2015. The program started with an inaugural session. Mr.Shanoj, the secretary of the Saparya Grameena Vayanasala welcomed the audience. The formal inauguration was done by Dr.Koshy George .T, the president of IMA Kunnamkulam. In his inaugural address he thanked the local club SAPARYA and Shanthi hospital, for the timely intervention of making the people aware of communicable diseases during the Monsoon time. The inaugural session was followed by the various programmes organised by the different committees of IMA Kunnamkulam:
- Health education class by IMA AMS
Dr.Rajesh Krishnan , the convenor of IMA AMS ,Kunnamkulam branch, took a Health Education Class on Monsoon diseases. He stressed the importance of personal cleanliness , safe drinking water and food hygiene in the prevention of communicable diseases.
- First aid class by ACT FORCE– LIFE SUPPORT AND TRAINING COMMITTEE
A FIRST AID CLASS was taken by Dr Koshy George T, who demonstrated various techniques of giving first aid in case of accidents at home, school, workplaces etc. , in a simple manner using commonly available materials like newspaper, cardboard boxes, and cotton clothes.
- BLS Workshop by ACT FORCE – LIFE SUPPORT AND TRAINING COMMITTEE
A practical workshop on Basic Life Support was taken by Dr Ajith. T , Anaesthesiologist of Malankara Mission Hospital , Kunnamkulam . Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation was demonstrated on a mannequin. Hands on session for selected volunteers added to the enthusiasm of the participant
4.Arogya jalakam : Leaflet on Monsoon Diseases prepared by Health Inspector .
The Arogya Jalakam Committee of IMA Kunnamkulam distributed the leaflets on Monsoon Diseases which were prepared for the programme by Mr. Pradeep, Health Inspector, Andathod PHC. The Health Inspector has agreed to cooperate with the Saparya Club to initiate preventive measures in the residential areas of Punnayurkulam.
Dr.Shaji.P.S , the Chaiman of IMA AMS ,Kunnamkulam Branch, Dr. Sreekala V.M and Dr.K.R.Mukesh participated in the Question and Answer session following the Health Education Sessions.
- Cholesterol Detection and Blood Sugar Detection Camp by IMA AMS
Cholesterol detection and Blood sugar detection were also done free of cost .
- Custom made Diet Sheets by Dietician organised by IMA AMS
For those patients who were found to have abnormal values a diet sheet was prepared according to their usual food pattern at home by the dietician under the supervision of Dr. Shaji P.S. and Dr. Rajesh Krishnan. Dr.Saju.P.K, the secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam proposed vote of thanks.
21st June : WIMA Coordinator and CEAD Women’s Wing President Mrs. Mini Paul distributed saplings to the Ayalkoottam ladies of Aduppootty colony as part of the Haritha Project of WIMA.
21st June : Dr. Ninan Koothoor and Dr. K.V. Devadas attended the Planning Meeting for Inauguration of Patient Care Fund of IMA held at Hotel Hyson, Kozhikode.
23rd June :The monthly CME of IMA Kunnamkulam was conducted at IMA House, Kanippayyur at 8 pm. Dr.Saji Sebastian , Gastroenterologist GMC Trichur, talk on the subject “Dos and Don’ts in Acute Hepatitis”. It was an interesting talk and there was active interaction following the talk.
Then IMA AMS X ray quiz was presented by Dr.Tomy. It was a case of Hiatus Hernia. The prize was won by Dr.Valsala Kaimal.
Then IMA CGP Journal club was presented by Dr.Haneesh Haridas. He spoke on “Blood components in transfusion”. PULSE-Photo quiz : Prize was won by Dr.K.C.Jaiboi.
25th June :Extra ordinary executive committee meeting to discuss Doctors’ Day program and reception to National President and State Office Bearers planned on 26th July.
25th June ;Health education class and Staff Training program organised by IMA AMS Kunnamkulam Chapter at Ansar Hospital, Perumpilav as the fourth program of the Monsoon Diseases Awareness Project of IMA Kunnamkulam.
On 25.6.2015, a Monsoon Diseases Awareness Programme including a health education class and a staff training program was organised by IMA AMS Kunnamkulam Chapter at Ansar Hospital,Perumpilav. The program started with a welcome address by the Director of the hospital, Dr.Nisar. The program was formally inaugurated by Dr.Koshy George.T, the President of IMA Kunnamkulam. The inaugural session was followed by two programs.
- A Health Education class on Monsoon ailments was taken by Dr.Tomy.C.P, physician, Ansar Hospital. He mentioned about various Monsoon ailments including Dengue fever and Leptospirosis as well as the common spectrum of monsoon diseases which may become epidemic during this season. This session was attended by the general public as well as staff.
- A training program for staff including the nursing staff, sweepers, ambulance staff and attenders of the hospital. Dr. C. P. Tomy and Dr. Saju P.K. led the training program. Dr.Tomy detailed about the modes of communication of various communicable diseases and precautions to be taken while handling such patients in the wards or casualty.
Vote of thanks was proposed Dr.Saju.P.K, the secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam.Since all the staff could not attend the program, a second session of the program is scheduled to be conducted during the next week.
25th June : Collection of contributions towards the IMA Patient Care Fund was started by IMA Kunnamkulam and WIMA Kunnamkulam.
26th June : Observation of international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking at IMA Kunnamkulam – Program conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam ( organised by IMA CGP Kunnamkulam Chapter ) at Ansar School, Perumpilav including short films, poster competition, health education class and pledge taking.
On 26.6.15 , international day against drug abuse was observed by IMA Kunnamkulam during a function organised by IMA CGP Kunnamkulam Chapter at Ansar English Medium School, Perumpilavu. The program started with a prayer song, by the students followed by a welcome speech by the school captain Ahmed Mohammed Rafi. The meeting was presided over by the head master Mr.Chandran. He welcomed the gathering of doctors, psychologists, plus one and plus two students and the staff of the school. The program was formally inaugurated by Dr.Koshy George T, the President of IMA Kunnamkulam. In his inaugural address, he stressed the point that , a major number of drug abusers are below the age of 18 and there is an increasing suicidal tendency among drug abusers. Then Prof.E.Mohamed, the Director of Ansar school of special education delivered the keynote address. Felicitations were offered by Mr.Anil Kumar, psychologist of Ansar Hospital Perumpilav and Dr.Ninan Koothoor, the Activity Co-ordinator of IMA CGP Kunnamkulam Chapter.
The inaugural function was followed by the following programs:
1.Film show.
Short films in English and Malayalam against drug abuse were shown to the students.
- Poster designing competition.
A poster designing competition for High School students was organised by IMA Kunnamkulam and the posters were displayed in the auditorium. The creativity and imagination of the students were evident in the variety and content of the posters they created.
A team of judges including Dr. Koshy George, Dr.Ninan Koothoor, Prof.E.Mohamed and Mr.Anil Kumar judged the posters designed by the students, depicting the ill-effects of drug abuse. There were 41 entries.
- Health Education Class.
A health education class was taken by Dr. Koshy George T, on the Harmful Effects of Drugs, Causes for drug addiction, effects of drug addiction and methods of prevention and intervention were dealt with.
- Pledge taking.
The pledge against the usage of intoxicants was recited by Dr.Koshy George and it was repeated by the students.
- Prize distribution.
The best 3 posters were awarded with special prizes by the IMA. The prizes were given away by Dr.Ninan Koothoor, Mr.Anil Kumar and Dr.Saju.P.K.
27th June : A Health Education Class was taken by Dr. Rini Ravindran, Asst. Professor, GMC, Thrissur and Convenor, WIMA at the Good Shepherd Convent Hall, Chowannur for the Aduppootty labourer colony ladies on Monsoon Diseases and a Clear Your Doubts Program on Drug Abuse in Children was also conducted after the class. WIMA Coordinator Mrs. Mini Paul and Senior Vice President of IMA Dr. Paul C. Raphel spoke on the occasion. Distribution of Mosquito vapourisers to all Aduppootty colony families was done as a part of the vector control programme of IMA Kunnamkulam.
28th June :Sahaya Hastham
The monthly free medical camp was conducted IMA Hall. Dr.Mohamed Nissar P.A and Dr.Manikandan examined the patients and free medicines were dispensed.56 patients attended the camp. Free blood sugar check up was also done.
30th June : Contributions towards first day donation for IMA Patient Care Fund announced. IMA Kunnamkulam collected Rs. 115125/- and WIMA Kunnamkulam collected RS. 50000/- to be handed over on Doctors’ Day.
