Report of IMA Kunnamkulam – January 2016

January 2^nd – Hospital Attack on Ansar Hospital, Perumpilav

 

On 2^nd January, 2016, an accident victim who was brought to Ansar Hospital had to be referred to a higher centre because he needed a CT scan. When the RMO informed this to the relatives, the relatives became violent and attacked the RMO saying that he was shirking away from his responsibility and they destroyed various items in the casualty during the assault.

Dr. Saju P.K, Secretary of the Action Committee of IMA Kunnamkulam took immediate action and held talks with the hospital authorities regarding further action. The police were informed and they promised to take immediate action.

 

January 3^rd – Team from IMA Kunnamkulam attend Book Release of our member

 

On January 3^rd a team from IMA Kunnamkulam led by the President Dr. C.P. Ravunnikutty and Secretary Dr. Shaji P.S attended a function held at Sahitya Academy Hall during which “ Nile Vazhikal”, a book written by our member Dr. Harikrishnan K.B was officially released

January 5^th – Emergency Protest Meeeting

 

An emergency protest meeting was held at IMA House, Kanippayyur against Ansar Hospital Attack because of the delay in police action. The president explained the details regarding the incident to the members. Various senior members spoke condemning the hospital attack.It was decided to give direct complaint to DYSP of  Kunnamkulam on behalf of IMA.

January 5^th – Executive Committee Meeeting

 

Conducted Executive Committee Meeting on 5^th.

President congratulated Dr. Harikrishnan K.B for his book on his experiences in a tour of Egypt which was recently released at an august function held at Sahithya Academy Hall, Thrissur which was attended by many of our members.

President congratulated the organizers of  Xmas New Year celebrations for their excellent show.

Decisions were taken regading programmes for the month.

 

January 8^th –Ansar Hospital honours our IMA National Award Winners

 

On January 8^th, Ansar Hospital Perumpilav honoured our National Award winners Dr. Koshy George T and Dr. Saju P.K. at a function held at Ansar Hospital Conference Hall.

 

January 9^th – Dr. Mukesh K.R becomes Secretary of IAP Thrissur

 

Dr. Mukesh K.R was elected as Secretary of IAP Thrissur for 2016.

 

January 15^th  – Community Service Day – Donation of UPS to Govt. Blind School Computer Lab

 

IMA Kunnamkulam observed Community Service Day by giving a UPS and Batteries worth Rs.30000  to the computer lab of Govt. Blind School Kunnamkulam . Municipal Ward Councilor Nisha Jayesh  presided the function. Smt. Misha Sebastian Standing Committee Chairman education handed over the UPS to School Head Master.     IMA President Dr.Ravunnikutty, Secretay Dr.Shaji.P.S, past president Dr.Koshy George and Dr.Saju spoke on the occasion.

January 15^th  – Palliative Care Day – Rally at GVHSS, Kunnamkulam

 

IMA Kunnamkulam and WIMA Kunnamkulam in association with Taluk Hospital,Kunnamkulam observed Palliative Care Day .              

Organized a Rally by NSS volunteers of GVHSS, Kunnamkulam in the town .Muncipal Chair Person flagged off the Rally. IMA president Dr.Ravunnikutty,Women’ s wing Secretary and Dr. Taj Paul Panakkal, Superintendent of Govt. Taluq Hospital, Kunnamkulam spoke on the occasion.

January 17^th  – Arogyajalakam Program at IHDP Colony, Chirakkal

 

IMA and WIMA Kunnamkulam along with Kattakampal Grama Panchayath conducted an Arogyajalakam Program at IHDP colony Chirakkal on 17^th of January, 2016. The program was inaugurated by Chirakkal Panchayath  President Shri.Sadanandan Master. The meeting was chaired by Dr. C.P. Ravunnikutty, President of IMA Kunnamkulam. Felicitations were offered by ward members. MLA of Kunnamkulam Shri. Babu.M.Palissery visited the camp and congratulated the organizers for the excellent initiative.

 

The following programs were conducted after the official inauguration:

1. Health education class on Diabetes by Dr. Shaji P.S
2. Health education class on Early Detection of Cervical Cancer by Dr.Geetha Devi R.
3. General health check up with distribution of free medicines and
4. Cervical cancer detection by pap smear for women

 

Dr. Ravunnikutty, Dr. Geetha Devi, Dr. Asok Varma, Dr Saju P.K, Dr. Shaji P.S., Dr Sangeetha and Dr Annie Babu conducted the medical camp.

 January 17^th  – Pulse Polio Programs conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam.

 

IMA Kunnamkulam participated in the pulse polio program on 17^th January, 2016.

 

Pulse Polio Booth at Govt. Taluk Hospital, Kunnamkulam

During the formal Inaugural Function of Pulse Polio Immunization in Kunnamkulam held at Govt. Taluk Hospital Kunnamkulam, Dr. Ravunnikutty, President of IMA Kunnamkulam IMA AMS Secretary Dr.Rajesh P. and Taluk Hospital Supt. Dr. Taj Paul Panakkal outlined the program charted out for effective implementation of the Pulse Polio Program in the municipality and surrounding Panchayaths.

IMA Secretary Dr .Shaji.P.S. and Joint Secretary Dr. K.R. Mukesh participated at the inaugural function of pulse polio at Punnayurkulam panchayat where the Panchayath President Mr. Dhaneep inaugarated the program.

Dr. Ravunnikutty, President of IMA Kunnamkulam, IMA Secretary Dr .Shaji.P.S. and WIMA Secretary Dr. Geetha Devi R participated at the inaugural function of pulse polio at Chirakkal panchayat where the Panchayath President Mr. Sadanandan Master inaugarated the program.

January 19^th – CME

5^th  General Body meeting and 4^th  CME was conducted. DTF Chairman Dr Santhosh Babu attended the meeting as a special guest. President congratulated Dr. Harikrishnan for being appointed as the Joint Secretary of Literary Wing of IMA State Branch. He also congratulated Dr. Varghese Paul for being appointed as the Dist. Representative Public Health Assurance Committee of  IMA, KSB.

President detailed all the programs done till date. He urged the members to attend the Antibiotic Symposium.

Dr. Reghunath, Neurologist was the guest speaker. He had given an Informative Lecture on PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY which was followed by interactive session

Dr. Tomy conducted the Xray Quiz which was a case of Pulmonary Hypoplasia.

Dr. Saju announced the result of Photo Quiz. The answer was Sir. Sidny Alfred Smith, Forensic Pathiologist. Winners were given prizes.

Distributed Copies of  Ethics Pearl Documents to the members as advised by the State Committee.

Dr. Santhosh Babu, Chairman Thrissur DTF was a special invitee and he addressed the members regarding the programmes of the DTF.

January 20^th – Blood Donation Camp at GHSS, Kunnamkulam 

IMA,Kunnamkulam and NSS unit of Govt. HSS, Kunnamkulam conducted blood donation camp at Boys High School. S I of police Mr. Farshad inaugarated the function.President Dr. Ravunnikutty conducted awareness class about Blood Donation. Municipal council members Smt. Misha Sebastian and Nisha attended the function.

January 20^th –BLS Workshop for KSEB Employees

 

IMA Kunnamkulam  and Thrissur DTF conducted basic life support and first aid training to Kerala State Electricity Board employees of Viyyur Sub Station. Dr. Ajith.T took the training session. This is an ongoing project of IMA Kunnamkulam.

Attended Antibiotic symposium conducted at Cochin .Four of our members participated

January 26^th  – Republic Day Celebrations

Flag hoisting done at IMA House at 8.30 am by President.

January 26^th  -DTF Meeting

 

Attended DTF meeting at Thrissur.10 members attended the meeting. Dr. Gopikumar made a power point presentation about DTF. National award winners Dr.Koshy George T and Dr.Saju P. K were felicitated by the DTF committee.

January 31st – Leprosy Awareness Program

In connection with World Leprosy Day conducted a dermatology camp at IMA House.Dr Annie Babu consultant Dermatologist examined patients.Dr Shaji PS and Dr Geetha Devi took awareness classes about Leprosy. Distributed  leaflets  about leprosy.

January 31st –Monthly Medical Camp at IMA House

 

Monthly medical camp and free distribution of medicines done. Dr Joshy Thomas led the camp.                                   Dr. Mohammed Nissar and Dr.  Mukesh participated .

January 31st – Workshop on Gynaecological Disorders by WIMA

WIMA Kunnamkulam in association with Grihalakshmi Vedi Kunnamkulam unit conducted work shop on Gynecological disorders and cancers on 31^st  January at IMA House.

Dr. Sreekala, Dr. Devika and Dr. Geetha Devi conducted the classes. This was followed by interactive session.
