REPORT OF ACTIVITIES MAY2015

Report of activities of IMA KUNNAMKULAM  for  the month MAY 2015.

 

On 3rd May 2015.

The IMA AMS Mid Zone Conference, AMSCON 2015 started  at 8.55am with hoisting of the IMA flag by the President Dr.Koshy George T, in the presence of various dignitaries and delegates attending the conference.

The scientific session started at 9am sharp with the topic “Prevention of Acute Coronary Syndrome “  by Dr.Govindan Unni, Professor, JMMC, Trichur, chaired by Dr.Joshy Thomas. The second topic was “Benign Breast Disorders –Can they be Premalignant “ by Dr.T. B.Culas, Professor, GMC Palakkad, chaired by Dr.Asok Varma.

This was followed by working tea break during which Dr.Antony Thoppil, Consultant Orthopaedician, Daya Hospital, Trichur gave a short presentation on ‘Pain Management in Osteoarthritis’ .

The Inaugural Ceremony commenced at 10.40 am. with a prayer song by Dr.Geetha Devi.R. Flag salutation was done by the secretary Dr.Saju.P.K. The President Dr.Koshy George T. welcomed all the dignitaries, faculties and delegates who attended the conference. The IMA AMS State Chairman Dr.Balakrishnan K.P, in his presidential address congratulated IMA Kunnamkulam for taking up the conference in a big way. The inauguration of the conference was done by the Midzone Vice President Dr.Abraham Varghese by lighting the Nilavilakku. During his inaugural address he thanked IMA Kunnamkulam for conducting the conference with dignity and glamour. Dr. K.V. Devadas and Dr. P.K. Mohammed Rasheed, Past Presidents of IMA KSB and Dr. P. Gopikumar, Mid Zone Joint Secretary of IMA KSB offered felicitations.

Next scientific session was ‘Radiology of Bone lesions’ by Prof. K Mohanan,HOD of Radiodiagnosis GMC Trichur, chaired by Dr.Koshy George T.  Dr.V.P.Paily, Professor, JMMC  Trichur took the next session on ‘Prevention of Infection’ chaired by Dr.Sarah Thomas. The last session before lunch was on “Adolescent Vaccines “ by Dr.N .S.Mani, Professor, GMC Trichur, chaired by Dr.Cherian Joseph.

1.20pm to 2pm was lunch break including time for all the delegates to visit the variety of stalls on the campus.

The post lunch session started with ‘Autoimmune disease –Mimics and Masquerades of Medicine’ by Dr.Padmanaba Shenoy ,Professor, AIMS Kochi, chaired by Dr.Abraham Joshua.The next topic was on ‘Psoriasisand Metabolic Syndrome’ by Dr. S.Criton, Professor, AIMS Trichur, chaired by Dr.Sreelatha Bhat. The last session was by Dr.K.K.Mubarak,Professor, GMC Calicut, on ‘Fitness for Anaesthesia-What does it really mean’, chaired by Dr.Antony P.David.

The conference concluded with vote of thanks by IMA AMS Kunnamkulam Chapter secretary and Organising Secretary of the conference, Dr.Rajesh Krishnan at 3.45pm.

The total number of delegates registered was 670.  255 delegates attended the conference. There were quizzes on X rays, clinical photos and ECG and a Lucky dip. Prizes were distributed to the winners .Mementos were given to each speaker by the respective chairperson.

A total of 30 new life memberships of IMA AMS were collected from members of IMA Kunnamkulam in connection with the conference.

 

On 5th May – We conducted executive committee meeting cum GP Con 2015 ( State Conference of IMA CGP scheduled for July 26 at Kunnamkulam ) organising committee meeting.

 

7th May – IMA Kunnamkulam observed the World Red Cross Day 2015 at Kechery on 7th May , by conducting FIRST AID class for the public and a Basic Life Support (BLS) training workshop for the volunteers of ACTS (Accident Care and Transport Service) and the taxi drivers of Kechery .

The first session was on FIRST AID and was led by Dr Koshy George T who demonstrated various techniques of giving first aid , in a simple manner using commonly available materials like newspaper, cardboard boxes, and cotton clothes.

In the second session , a practical training class on BLS was taken by Dr Ajith. T , Anaesthesiologist of Malankara Mission Hospital , Kunnamkulam . Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation was demonstrated on a mannequin with the help of trained male nursing staff.

 

On 10th May – WIMA SOUHRUDHA – CEAD  Anaemia Detection Camp and IMA – CEAD Hypertension Detection Camp held at Christhujyothi Convent Hall, Aduppootty, Kunnamkulam.

The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Koshy George T., President of IMA Kunnamkulam. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sara Thomas, founder Chairperson of WIMA Kunnamkulam. Key Note Address was by Dr. R. Padmasini, Chairperson of WIMA, Kunnamkulam.

After the inaugural function, health education class on hypertension was taken by Dr. Koshy George T. This was followed by a health  education class on Anaemia by Dr. Sara Thomas.

All ladies of Aduppootty colony were screened for anaemia and hypertension. 48 cases of anaemia were detected and medicines distributed free of cost. 9 new cases of hypertension were detected and treatment initiated.

 

On 12th May – IMA Kunnamkulam observed International Nurses’ Day at Ansar Hospital  Auditorium, Perumpilavu on 12.05.2015, at a well attended function in which two senior staff nurses of the hospital were honoured. Welcome speech was delivered by the Secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam, Dr Saju P K . The meeting was presided over by Kunnamkulam IMA President Dr Koshy George T . In his Presidential address he conveyed best regards on behalf of IMA Kunnamkulam to the senior staff nurses sister Elsy Abraham and Sister C M Baby , who have completed 40 years of service in the nursing field  . The president stressed the importance of this year’s theme ‘ Nurses – a force for change – care effective, cost effective’. Then in a short function both these senior nurses were honoured by the director of Ansar Hospital , Prof. E Mohammad , with adorning of ponnadas. Mementos from IMA Kunnamkulam were also handed over to them by the President Dr Koshy George T . Felicitations were offered by Prof E. Mohammad and  Nursing superintendent Sister Mary Simon.

On 12th May – Dr.K.V.Devadas, Dr.Ninan Koothoor and Dr.K.R. Mukesh of IMA Kummamkulam attended the District level Hospital Accreditation Board meeting at Trichur.

 

On 13th May – Dr. Koshy George T., Dr. P.K. Saju, Dr.K.V.Devadas, Dr. O.J. John and Dr.Ninan Koothoor of IMA Kummamkulam attended the DTF meeting at Trichur.

 

On 14th MayExecutive Committee cum GP Con organising committee meeting to discuss the progress of events in the organisational activities of IMA CGP state conference.

On 14th May – The Professional  Integrity Day was observed at IMA Kunnamkulam at IMA House , Kanipayyur . The meeting started with a silent prayer and the president Dr Koshy George T welcomed the members. He conveyed the messages of the state secretary Dr A V Jayakrishnan and the DTF chairman Dr Jain Chimmen about observing the Professional Integrity Day. The president released the pamphlets to be distributed in hospitals of Kunnamkulam by handing over a copy to Past President of IMA KSB, Dr. K.V. Devadas. Dr KV Devadas , Past president of IMA KSB in his address, spoke on the need to stand united to fight against mixopathy and safeguard our profession .

Then the president recited the pledge to all members to keep and uphold our professional integrity . Pamphlets were distributed to all the members.

 

On 15th May – The Professional  Integrity Day was observed at various hospitals in IMA Kunnamkulam. Pamphlets were distributed to all the members in Unity Hospital, Royal Hospital, MOSCMM Hospital, Ittimani Memorial Hospital Kunnamkulam as well as St. Joseph’s Hospital, Choondal, Ansar Hospital, Perumpilavu and Shanthi Hospital, Punnayurkulam.

 

On 17th May – 8 members of IMA Kunnamkulam attended the SWC meet held Alleppey, wherein 2 awards were bagged by IMA Kunnamkulam. The first award was the State President’s Appreciation Award for initiating Arogyamythri, CAP and GRF in our branch and the second one was the Rejatha Jwala Award for securing maximum number of membership in various schemes of IMA during jwala period, in which we got the second place.

 

On 20th May –A family meeting of patients and relatives of the Santhwana Chikitsa Project of Pain and Palliative Unit of IMA Kunnamkulam was held in Govt. Taluq Hospital. The meeting was inaugurated by Shri C.K. Unnikrishnan Master, Chairman of Kunnamkulam Municipality. Adv. C.B. Rajeev, Health Standing Committee Chairman presided over the function. Dr. Taj Paul Panakkal, Coordinator of the Santhwana Chikitsa Project presented the report.

 

 21st to 23rd May –  IMA Kunnamkulam observed World Schizophrenia Week at AIPMAR (Ansar Institute of Psychological Medicine And Rehabilitation), Perumpilavu. It was a 3 days program from 21st May to 23rd May, 2015.

1.First day’s programme – 21st May, 2015

The program started with an inaugural function presided over by the Deputy Director of Ansar Hospital, Mr.P.A.Shaheed. The 3 day programme was formally inaugurated by Dr.Koshy George T., President of IMA Kunnamkulam. He thanked AIPMAR, for cooperating with IMA in conducting such an important program and conveyed best wishes for the program. Felicitations were offered by Deputy Director Mr.CA.Faizal and Dr. P.M. Syed Mohammed, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, AIPMAR and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Saju.P.K, the Secretary of  IMA Kunnamkulam.

After the inaugural function there was a Quiz Program for the nursing students on Schizophrenia and related disorders in which nursing students from different nursing schools including Amala School of Nursing took part.

 

  1. Second Day’s programme – 22nd May 2015 .

The program started with a public awareness class co-ordinated by Dr.Saju.P.K, Secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam with active participation of the nursing students of AIPMAR, in front of the Out Patient Department.

In the afternoon , there was a Health Education Skit performed by the nursing students, depicting the social stigma of psychiatric illnesses.

 

  1. Third Day’s programme – 23rd May, 2015

The program started with an experience sharing session in which patients with history of psychiatric illnesses shared their experiences with the disease and its treatment and Nursiing Staff also shared their experiences in the treatment of different patients. It was a very interesting programme appreciated by the patients and relatives who took active part in the interactive session. Their queries were answered by the psychiatrists Dr.P.M.Syed Mohamed and Dr.K,V.K..Babu.

 

On 24th May 2015

GRAMEEN AROGYA PADHATHI, the village health program was inaugurated in IMA Kunnamkulam on Sunday,24-05-15 in a function organised jointly by IMA Kunnamkulam, WIMA Kunnamkulam and Chowannur Grama Panchayat at IHDP Colony Hall, Pudussery . The meeting was presided over by Dr Koshy George T , the president of IMA Kunnamkulam . The formal inauguration was done by the president of Chowannur grama panchayath, Mrs Ajitha Pushpakaran . She said that, the activities of IMA is a  role model and they should be maximum utilised  by the community.

Felicitations were offered by the  Vice president of Chowannur gramapanchayath,   Adv.Sumesh , ward member Miss. Shantha , past president of IMA KSB , Dr K V Devadas and past president of IMA Kunnamkulam, Dr N D Varghese . Adv. Sumesh commended the activities of Arogyajalakom Committee of IMA in creating a liason with the Grama Panchayat officials and requested for more programmes in Chowannur panchayat.

The inaugural function was followed by two programmes:

  1. The second phase of interventional health program of Arogyajalakam of IMA Kunnamkulam conducted in association with chowannur grama panchayath, for the control of life style diseases in ward No. 8 of the Panchayath. In this program, Random blood sugar, Blood pressure and Uric acid were checked , free of cost, for all the people of IHDP Colony. A team of our members led by Dr. Shaji P.S., Chairman of IMA AMS Kunnamkulam Chapter examined the patients. Free medicines were dispensed and follow up check up was advised for those who had abnormal values, at the SAHAYAHASTHAM camps (on the last Sunday of every month), a continuing monthly medical help of IMA Kunnamkulam ,  conducted at IMA House .
  2. A health education class by WIMA Kunnamkulam. Dr Smitha K S, the treasurer of WIMA Kunnamkulam and Asst. Professor, Government Medical College, Thrissur , took a class on control and prevention of life style diseases . Following the talk there was an interactive session in which there was active participation of the people.

 

On 26th May – We conducted our monthly CME. Dr.Jayanth .T . Mathew spoke on the subject Renal Replacement Therapy –Past , present and Future.52 members attended the meeting .

IMA AMS X-Ray quiz was conducted by Dr.Tomy.It was a case of Air under right hemi diaphragm and prizes were won Dr.Sajan Thottan,Dr.Mohamed Nissar, and Dr.N.D.Varghese.

IMA CGP case presentation done by Dr.Saju.P.K. It was a case of scurvy.

The second volume of the inner Voice , the official newsletter of WIMA Kunnamkulam which was prepared by WIMA last month was released for distribution to all IMA Kunnamkulam members by the chief guest.

The prizes for photo quiz of last month’s PULSE were awaded to Dr.Peethambaran .K.B ,Dr.Koshy George and Dr.N.Venugopal. The personality featured was Dr. K. Madhavankutty.

 

On 27th May  – 37 applications for life membership in IMA AMS was sent to the AMS state secretary Dr.Roy R .Chandran.

 

0n 31st May – We conducted the half yearly Patient Meet of the SAHAYA HASTHAM project at IMA HOUSE , Kunnamkulam in a meeting presided by Dr.Koshy George.T, the president of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr.N.D.Varghese,Dr.Varghese Paul ,both past presidents of IMA Kunnamkulam and Advisory Board members of Sahaya Hastham Project, Dr. P.A. Mohammed Nissar, Chairman, Charity Wing, Dr.Shameer C. Sulaiman, Dr.Saju.P.K and Dr.Rini Raveendran attended the meeting. Dr.Mohammed Nissar examined the patients. Free blood sugar check up was also done. 62 patients attended the and free medicines were dispensed.

On 31st May – IMA Kunnamkulam observed “No Tobacco Day” in a function held at IMA HOUSE ,Kunnamkulam. The meeting was presided over by Dr.Koshy George .T, the president of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr.Saju.P.K, the secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam welcomed the gathering. Dr.Koshy George , in his presidential address requested the public to avoid both Active and Passive smoking.

Dr.Rini Raveendran took a health education  class organised by WIMA Kunnamkulam on the adverse effects of smoking , in a simple language so as  to understand the common man. There was a small question –answer session following the talk.

The President released the  pamphlets on adverse effects of smoking, which was prepared by Dr. P.A. Mohammed Nissar for IMA AMS were distributed to the gathering. Dr.N.D.Varghese , Dr.Varghese Paul and Dr.Shameer C sulaiman attended the meeting.

WORLD SCHIZOPHRENIA WEEK OBSERVATION

This is a special report on the observation of World Schizophrenia Week  by IMA Kunnamkulam.

IMA Kunnamkulam observed World Schizophrenia Week at AIPMAR (Ansar Institute of Psychological Medicine And Rehabilitation), Perumpilavu. It was a 3 days program from 21st May to 23rd May, 2015.

Prizes were given away to the winners of quiz competition by Dr Koshy George and Gifts were presented to patients by Dr. P.A. Mohammed Nissar.

INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY OBSERVATION 12.05.15

International Nurses’ Day observed by IMA Kunnamkulam

IMA Kunnamkulam observed International Nurses’ Day at Ansar Hospital  Auditorium, Perumpilavu at 3 pm on 12.05.2015, at a well attended function in which two senior staff nurses of the hospital were honoured. Welcome speech was delivered by the Secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam, Dr Saju P K . The meeting was presided over by Kunnamkulam IMA President Dr Koshy George T . In his Presidential address he conveyed best regards on behalf of IMA Kunnamkulam to the senior staff nurses sister Elsy Abraham and Sister C M Baby , who have completed 40 years of service in the nursing field  . The president stressed the importance of this year’s theme ‘ Nurses – a force for change – care effective, cost effective’. Then in a short function both these senior nurses were honoured by the director of Ansar Hospital , Prof. E Mohammad , with adorning of ponnadas. Mementos from IMA Kunnamkulam were also handed over to them by the President Dr Koshy George T . Felicitations were offered by Prof E. Mohammad and  Nursing superintendent Sister Mary Simon. Sister Elsy Abraham and Sister C M Baby in their reply speech,  thanked IMA Kunnamkulam and Ansar Hospital  for honouring them . Vote of thanks was proposed by the Deputy Director Mr Shaheed P A. The function was followed by tea and snacks to all .

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY 31.05.15

Special report on the observation of World No Tobacco Day at IMA Kunnamkulam.

On 31st May , IMA Kunnamkulam observed “No Tobacco Day” in a function held at IMA HOUSE ,Kunnamkulam after the half yearly Patient Meet of the Sahaya Hastham Monthly Medical Camp of IMA Kunnamkulam. The meeting was presided over by Dr.Koshy George .T, the president of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr.Saju.P.K, the secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam welcomed the gathering. Dr.Koshy George , in his presidential address requested the public to avoid both Active and Passive smoking.

WIMA Kunnamkulam conducted a health awareness class for the patients in association with World No Tobacco Day. The Health Education Class was taken by Dr. Rini Raveendran, Asst. Professor, Govt. Medical College, Thrissur on ‘The Harmful Effects of Smoking’.  Dr.Rini Raveendran stressed the adverse effects of smoking , in a simple language which the common man can understand. There was a small question –answer session following the talk.

The president released the  pamphlets on adverse effects of smoking, which were distributed to the gathering.

Dr.N.D.Varghese , Dr.Varghese Paul, Dr. P.A. Mohammed Nissar and Dr.Shameer C Sulaiman attended the meeting and interacted with the patients.

The meeting was followed by light refreshments for the patients, after which the monthly medical camp was conducted.

INAUGURATION OF GRAMEEN AROGYA PADHATHI, AROGYAJALAKAM CAMP AND WIMA HEALTHEDUCATION CLASS AT IHDP COLONY PUDUSSERY 24.5.15

This is a special report on the inauguration of GRAMEEN AROGYA PADHATHI, the village health program at IMA Kunnamkulam , Arogyajalakom Camp and WIMA Health education Class held at IHDP Colony, Pudussery on 24.05.2015.

GRAMEEN AROGYA PADHATHI, the village health program was inaugurated in IMA Kunnamkulam on Sunday,24-05-15 in a function organised jointly by IMA Kunnamkulam, WIMA Kunnamkulam and Chowannur Grama Panchayat at IHDP Colony Hall, Pudussery . The meeting was presided over by Dr Koshy George T , the president of IMA Kunnamkulam . The formal inauguration was done by the president of Chowannur grama panchayath, Mrs Ajitha Pushpakaran . She said that, the activities of IMA is a  role model and they should be maximum utilised  by the community.

Ward member Shantha said that her own family regularly attended the monthly checkups of Sahayahastham Project of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr. K.V. Devadas  stressed the importance of involvement of IMA in the health of the community. Speaking on behalf of Arogyajalakom Committee, Dr. N.D. Varghese thanked the Chowannur Grama Panchayat for its cooperation.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Saju P K , the secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam who promised that IMA Kunnamkulam would respond positively to the requests for more activities from the Panchayat authorities.

Snacks and Cool Drinks were served to all after the inaugural session.

The inaugural function was followed by 2 programs:.

WORLD RED CROSS DAY 2015

This is a special report on the observation of World Red Cross day at IMA Kunnakulam by a First-Aid Class and the 1st interventional program of ACT FORCE of IMA Kunnamkulam by a Basic Life Support workshop for ACTS, Kechery.

IMA Kunnamkulam observed the World Red Cross Day 2015 at Kechery on 7th May , by conducting FIRST AID class for the public and a Basic Life Support (BLS) training workshop for the volunteers of ACTS (Accident Care and Transport Service) and the taxi drivers of Kechery .

The program started with a silent prayer. The president of ACTS unit Kechery Mr Jose Paul T. presided over the inaugural function. During his presidential address, he expressed appreciation and gratitude for the support of IMA Kunnamkulam for the activities of ACTS in the health sector. The formal inauguration of the workshop was done by Dr Koshy George T , President of IMA Kunnamkulam . In his inaugural address , he mentioned the significance of the world Red Cross Day and he stressed the importance of teaching the basic life support measures and techniques to accident care givers like ACTS .

Special emphasis was given to effective first aid measures which can be administered at homes, schools, roads and places of work.

In the second session , a practical training class on BLS was taken by Dr Ajith. T , Anaesthesiologist of Malankara Mission Hospital , Kunnamkulam . Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation was demonstrated on a mannequin with the help of trained male nursing staff. Hands on session for selected volunteers added to the enthusiasm of the participants.

66 volunteers attended the workshop. There was active interaction from the audience, following the sessions. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of ACTS Kechery, Mr Jisson Choondal .

PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY DAY OBSERVATION

This is a special report on the observation of “ Professional integrity day “ at IMA Kunnamkulam .

The Professional  Integrity Day was observed at IMA Kunnamkulam at IMA House , Kanipayyur . The meeting started with a silent prayer and the president Dr Koshy George T welcomed the members. He conveyed the messages of the state secretary Dr A V Jayakrishnan and the DTF chairman Dr Jain Chimmen about observing the Professional Integrity Day. The president released the pamphlets to be distributed in hospitals of Kunnamkulam by handing over a copy to Past President of IMA KSB, Dr. K.V. Devadas. Dr KV Devadas , Past president of IMA KSB in his address, spoke on the need to stand united to fight against mixopathy and safeguard our profession .

Then the president recited the pledge to all members to keep and uphold our professional integrity . Pamphlets were distributed to all the members . The meeting was closed  with vote of thanks by the  secretary Dr Saju P.K .

Individual meetings were held later in Unity Hospital, Kanippayyur, Royal Hospital, Kunnamkulam, MOSCMM Hospital, Aduppootty, Santhi Nursing Home and Ansar Hospital Perumpilavu.

WIMA SOUHRUDHA – CEAD Anaemia Detection Camp and IMA – CEAD Hypertension Detection Camp Aduppootty, Kunnamkulam on 10.05.2015

This is a special report on the WIMA SOUHRUDHA – CEAD  Anaemia Detection Camp and IMA – CEAD Hypertension Detection Camp held at Christhujyothi Convent Hall, Aduppootty, Kunnamkulam on 10.05.2015

 

The programme started at 9.30 am with a public meeting. After a prayer led by the Mother Superior of Christhujyothi Convent, the participants were welcomed by the president of CEAD, Mr. Pappachen. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Koshy George T., President of IMA Kunnamkulam. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sara Thomas, founder Chairperson of WIMA Kunnamkulam. Key Note Address was by Dr. R. Padmasini, Chairperson of WIMA, Kunnamkulam.

After the inaugural function, health education class on hypertension was taken by Dr. Koshy George T. This was followed by a health  education class on Anaemia by Dr. Sara Thomas.

All ladies of Aduppootty colony were screened for anaemia and hypertension. 48 cases of anaemia were detected and medicines distributed free of cost. 9 new cases of hypertension were detected and treatment initiated.

SPECIAL REPORT ON IMA AMS MIDZONE CONFERENCE AMSCON 2015 HOSTED BY IMA KUNNAMKULAM ON 3.5.2015

This is a special report on IMA AMS MIDZONE CONFERENCE AMSCON 2015 hosted by IMA KUNNAMKULAM at IMA House, Pudussery on 3rd May 2015.

The IMA AMS Mid Zone Conference, AMSCON 2015 started  at 8.55am with hoisting of the IMA flag by the President Dr.Koshy George T, in the presence of various dignitaries and delegates of the conference.

The scientific session started at 9am sharp with  the topic “Prevention of Acute Coronary Syndrome “ by Dr.Govindan Unni, Professor, JMMC, Trichur, chaired by Dr.Joshy Thomas. The second topic was “Benign Breast Disorders –Can they be Premalignant “ by Dr.T. B.Culas, Professor, GMC Palakkad, chaired by Dr.Asok Varma.

This was followed by working tea break during which Dr.Antony Thoppil, Consultant Orthopaedician, Daya Hospital, Trichur gave a small presentation on ‘Pain Management in Osteoarthritis’ .

The Inaugural Ceremony commenced at 10.40am.with a prayer song by Dr.Geetha Devi.R. Flag salutation was done by the secretary Dr.Saju.P.K. Then the President Dr.Koshy George welcomed all the dignitaries, faculties and delegates who attended the conference. The IMA AMS State Chairman Dr.Balakrishnan K.P, in his presidential address congratulated IMA Kunnamkulam for taking up the conference in a big way and announced that he has reduced the IMA AMS membership fee to Rs 700 for that day only and requested all the delegates to avail of this opportunity. The inauguration of the conference was done by the Midzone Vice President Dr.Abraham Varghese by lighting the Nilavilakku. During his inaugural address he thanked IMA Kunnamkulam for conducting the conference with dignity and glamour. Felicitations were offered by Dr.P.K.Mohammed Rasheed  and Dr.K.V.Devadas past presidents of IMA KSB, and Midzone joint secretary Dr.P.Gopikumar. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Shaji P.S, Chairman, IMA AMS Kunnamkulam Chapter and Organising Chairman of the conference.The inaugural ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

Next scientific session was ‘Radiology of Bone lesions’ by Prof. K Mohanan,HOD of Radiodiagnosis GMC Trichur, chaired by Dr.Koshy George T.  Dr.V.P.Paily, Professor, JMMC  Trichur took the next session on ‘Prevention of Infection’ chaired by Dr.Sarah Thomas. The last session before lunch was on “Adolescent Vaccines “ by Dr.N .S.Mani, Professor, GMC Trichur, chaired by Dr.Cherian Joseph.

1.20pm to 2pm was lunch break including time for all the delegates to visit the variety of stalls on the campus.

The post lunch session started with ‘Autoimmune disease –Mimics and Masquerades of Medicine’ by Dr.Padmanaba Shenoy ,Professor, AIMS Kochi, chaired by Dr.Abraham Joshua.The next topic was on ‘Psoriasisand Metabolic Syndrome’ by Dr. S.Criton, Professor, AIMS Trichur, chaired by Dr.Sreelatha Bhat. The last session was by Dr.K.K.Mubarak,Professor, GMC Calicut, on ‘Fitness for Anaesthesia-What does it really mean’, chaired by Dr.Antony P.David.

All presentations were followed by active interactive sessions from the floor, which made the proceedings very lively and interesting.

The conference concluded with vote of thanks by IMA AMS Kunnamkulam Chapter secretary and Organising Secretary of the conference, Dr.Rajesh Krishnan at 3.45pm.

The total number of delegates registered was 670. 255 delegates attended the conference.

There were quizzes on X rays, clinical photos and ECG and a Lucky dip. Prizes were distributed to the winners .Mementos were given to each speaker by the respective chairperson.

Breakfast, midmorning tea, Lunch, and evening tea were very well appreciated by all. Above all, an air-conditioned hall with digital quality of sound as well as punctuality and quality of sessions were praised by all the dignitaries and the delegates alike.
