Special report on inauguration of Arogyamythri   interventional   programmes of IMA Kunnamkulam at the Emmanuel LP School , Chittanjoor.

We had reported earlier that the formal adoption of Emmanuel L P School Chittanjoor for the Arogyamythri Project of IMA Kunnamkulam was declared on 19th December, 2014 by the State Secretary Dr. A.V. Jayakrishnan at a function held at IMA House, Kanippayyur, Kunnamkulam in association with a seminar organised by IMA Kunnamkulam in cooperation with the Kunnamkulam Press Club. A formal adoption document was handed over by the State Secretary to the School Headmistress Mrs. Soni on behalf of IMA Kunnamkulam. IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a Christmas Programme for the students last month at the school.

The formal inauguration of the interventional health programmes of IMA Kunnamkulam at the adopted school , Emmanuel LP school , Chittanjoor was held on 16th January, 2015 at the school. The President Dr. Koshy George formally inaugurated the interventional health programmes in a simple function attended by the staff and students of the school. The secretary Dr. Saju P K and the headmistress of the school Mrs. Soni spoke on the occasion.

After the inaugural function, we conducted our first interventional program – a health education class on “Personal hygiene and tips for improving scholastic performance” by the Women’s Wing of IMA Kunnamkulam. The class was taken by Dr.Rema Mukesh. After the class, there was an interactive session on “Improving Scholastic Skills” in which the mediators were the President Dr.Koshy George  T and the Women’s Wing coordinator Mrs.Mini Paul. The participation of the students as well as the staff in the interactive session was overwhelming.

INAUGURATION OF CITIZENS’ ADVISORY PANEL

The formal inauguration of the CITIZENS’ ADVISORY PANEL of IMA Kunnamkulam branch will be held at IMA House, Kunnamkulam at 8.00 pm on wednesday 28.01.2015. 
 
Dr, K.V. Devadas, Past President of IMA Kerala State will formally inaugurate the Citizens’ Advisory Panel which we are constituting. Shri Babu M. Palissery, Hon’ble MLA of Kunnamkulam, Shri C.K. Unnikrishnan Master, Hon’ble Municipal Chairman of Kunnamkulam, Shri E. Raghunandanan, Secretary, Haemophilia Society and Shri K.K. Raveendran DySP of Kunamkulam will be present to take over as members of the Panel.
 
Dr. John Sebastian Nivin, District Representative of Citizens’ Advisory Panel of IMA in Thrissur District has agreed to grace the occasion with his presence.

AROGYAMAITHRI Interventional Health Programmes

Dear friends,


The formal inauguration of AROGYAMAITHRI Interventional Health Programmes in the Adopted Village and School under IMA Kunnamkulam branch will be held at ALP School, Thippilassery village (near Akkikkavu) at 9.30 am on 18.01.2015. 
 
Shri Babu M. Palissery, Hon’ble MLA of Kunnamkulam will inaugurate the programme for this year. The Panchayat President and Ward members will be present. Dr. K.V. Devadas, Past President of IMA Kerala State has kindly consented to grace the occasion with his presence. 
 
A Health Education Booklet prepared by the IMA AMS chapter of Kunnamkulam will be released on the occasion. 
 
A screening camp for Anaemia will be conducted after the inaugural function by the IMA Women’s Wing and  a screening camp for Thyroid disorders will be conducted by the IMA AMS chapter.

We are sorry to inform you of the sad and untimely demise of Mrs. Clementa Bineesh, Wife of Dr. Bineesh T. Vijayan, ENT Specialist, Taluq Hospital Kunnamkulam. The last rites are scheduled to be held at noon tomorrow, 14.01.2015. IMA Kunnamkulam expresses heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Certificate Course in Geriatric Care

We are pleased to inform you that NSID, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India is conducting two months Certificate Course in Geriatric Care Bedside Assistance/ Care Taker in association with Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) and Indian Medical Association (IMA) Kunnamkulam at Malankara Medical Mission Hospital, Aduputty, Kunnamkulam.  The formal inauguration of the course is scheduled to be held at 9.30 am on 9th Jan 2015.

RUN KERALA RUN

RUN KERALA RUN

Friends,

You must all be aware of ‘Run Kerala Run’, a marathon lining up one crore people all over Kerala to undertake a run to promote the National Games which is coming to our state after 27 years. It will be a historic run the kind of which has not been organised in our nation so far and is likely even to find a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. I feel that we should take part in this as a part of our social commitment and to show our unity and sporting spirit. I also feel that this will be an opportunity for us to cooperate with other social organisations operating in the vicinity of our IMA House. So I have contacted ACTS Kechery and YMCA Kanippayyur and requested their cooperation.
We will assemble at our IMA House at 9.45am on 20.01.2015 Tuesday to start the program. The run will be from IMA House to Unity Hospital Kanippayyur and will start sharp at 10.30 am. I request all of you to come with as many of your hospital staff members to make this venture a success.Wishing you all a Happy New Year once again.

Happy New Year 2015

Wishing you all a Happy New Year. May 2015 be a wonderful year for each and every one of you and for our dear IMA. Let us work together to make it a worthwhile year for our association. I am extremely thankful for the wholehearted cooperation and support we have received from you all during the part of our term in 2014. Expecting continued and greater support for the activities we are planning.

i WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL FOR ATTENDING THE NEW YEAR GET-TOGETHER IN LARGE NUMBERS AND MAKING IT A GRAND SUCCESS. MY SINCERE GRATITUDE TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMME. IT WAS A GREAT EFFORT AND A GOOD SHOW !
It has been noted in previous family meetings that many members leave the hall during the entertainment programme leaving the hall partially empty during the latter part of the performance. This did not happen yesterday and I am extremely thankful to each and every one of you for encouraging the members who took part in the programme. More than a high quality entertainment programme, we intended wholehearted participation from our members and that was there both on stage and in the audience.
The table arrangement in the hall was to make the atmosphere conducive to the above mentioned plan. However serving in a congested hall arrangement was a problem we anticipated. That is why we ordered food packets with some extra food kept for larger numbers. However, there was a miscalculation regarding the larger numbers and we faced a shortage of plates which was rectified but it caused some delay. Moreover, the decision to have food packets caused the food to become cold. I own the entire resposibility for these decisions and I would like to apologise to each and every one of you for any inconvenience caused. If I took any stand which you did not appreciate, I assure you that I earnestly did it only for our programme to be a success. This is our first family meeting this year. I will learn from my mistakes and I will try to make future programmes more successful. Kindly do forgive me.

PROTEST MEETING AT TALUK HOSPITAL, KUNNAMKULAM

This is the special report  on the protest meeting held at Taluq hospital , Kunnamkulam today following a hospital attack at the Taluq hospital , Kunnamkulam ,in the early hours of the day at about  3 am .  A mob of 60 masked miscreants came to the hospital to identify and assault some inpatients who were admitted to the hospital following a local political clash. The attackers have beaten up the security guard and locked in the duty staff nurse inside the duty room and created dreadful  situation in the hospital, causing inconvenience and fear to other inpatients.

Today morning  , the IMA kunnamkulam branch was officially informed and immediately a strong team of the IMA led by the Kunnamkulam IMA president Dr.Koshy George ,Secretary Dr.Saju.P.K ,Senior Vice president Dr Paul C Raphel, IMAKSB Past President Dr.K.V.Devadas, SSSS Board of Trustees member Dr.O.J.John reached the Taluq Hospital within minutes and organised a  protest meeting  involving all the staff of Taluq Hospital also and a protest march was held demanding  arrest of the culprits under the Hospital Protection Act. All the doctors of the Taluq Hospital also participated in the protest meeting. 

IMA Kunnamkulam President Dr. Koshy George T., Taluq Hospital Superintendent Dr. Taj Paul and Municipal Councillor Adv. Rajeev addressed the gathering.

I have been informed that 3 culprits have already been booked under the Act before I have drafted this report.

We regret to inform all members that the mother of Dr. Vanaja expired . Funeral on 28.12.2014 at Elapully, Palakkad . IMA expresses its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
