May 5^thFree Friday Diabetic Clinic conducted at SHRC by IMA Kunnamkulam. Secretary Dr.Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. 14 patients attended . Free Blood Sugar estimation was done.

May 7^thIMA Inter Hospital  Shuttle Tournament. All together 16 teams representing Jubilee, Amala, Daya, Mother, Unity, Ansar, Taluk Hospital and Malankaraparticipated in the tournament conducted for Thrissur district.Jubilee Medical College won the finals and secured winner’s trophy and Rs. 5000 as cash award.Daya Hospital were the runner’s up securing Rs.3000 &shield . Cash awards were also given to 3^rd& 4^th placed teams.Tournament was conducted by Ansar Hospital in association with IMA Kunnamkulam. Prizes were distributed by IMA President Dr.Joshy Thomas. DTF convener Dr.Saju P.K &Ansar Hospital director Dr.Nissar attended the function.

May 12^th Nurses Day

In connection with world Nurses day, IMA Kunnamkulam in association with SHRC conducted Nurses awareness class and honoured senior nursing suprendent Mrs Rainy Yesudas  ata function organised at SHRC.Awareness class was taken by Dr Shameer C Sulaiman.

As part of IMA Kunnamkulam’songoing programme of combating heart disease, a cardiac disease detection camp was organized in association with Unity Heart Care and Kalasagarika cultural club at Ariyannoor from 9am to 1pm. 58 patient were examined with free ECG and blood sugar estimation. A health awareness talk on
” Ischeamic Heart Disease” was taken by Dr.Akhil P C, Cardiologist. Dr.Reji, Dr.Joshy Thomas and Dr. Albin examined patients.

PPS State Secretary Dr.JainChimmen gave an excellent presentation on “Pitfalls in Documentation”.Dr.Saju P K spoke on “Chest X-Rays”.Altogether 52 members attended.

One program was a Special Depression Awareness camp  at VIYYOOR CENTRAL JAIL for Prisoners at 11am. Welcome speech was given by the Central Jail Welfare Officer Mrs.Sibi Simon. The Central Jail Medical Officer Dr.Suresh presided over the function, Consultant Psychiatrist  of Thrissur Mental Hospital Dr.Cyriac George took a class on “Depression and Mental Health”.  55 prisoners attended the class. The second program was a Depression Awareness Camp at Ansar psychiatry hospital Perumpilav for  patients ,nursing students and  public  at 3 pm . Consultant Psychiatrist  of Thrissur Mental Hospital Dr Cyriac George took a class   on “How to deal with Depression”. More than 100 participants attended the program. There was a question – answer session for Nursing students after the function. IMA President

In connection with World Noise Pollution Awareness Day( NO HONKING DAY )on April 26^th, Thrissur District level Inauguration of the programme was conducted at Kunnamkulam Town  at 10 am.  IMA Kunnamkulam  in Association with NISS , Kunnamkulam Municipality, Kunnamkulam Police Station, Thrissur DTF , Lions Club Thrissur City & Kunnamkulam, Auto Taxi Drivers Association Kunnamkulam  conducted a Mega Noise pollution awareness seminar for the public .Welcome and Presidential Address  by IMA President Dr Joshy Thomas , official Inauguration of the programme was done by Municipal Chair person  Smt.Seetha Raveendran , DTF Chairman Dr Santhosh Babu detailed the programme. Special guest, ASI of police Mr Joy released  special informative booklet on “Hearing Noise”  by handing over a copy  to  Municipal chairperson. Seminar  on How to Prevent Excess noises was conducted by past state president and ENT specialist Dr K.V.Devadas as moderator. Health Education Class on complications of high volume sounds was taken by NISS Midzone Coordinator and ENT Specialist Dr C.K. Madhuaudanan. In and around the city,  hoardings  and notices were exhibited,  distributed booklet and notices to public and all drivers. Stickers  exhibited by  Autos and announcement through  FM radio were the highlights of the program. Felicitations were given by Lions Club president Mr.Ajith Cheeran , IPP Dr.Ravunnikutty and Dr Rajagopal, secretary Thrissur                  Paediatric Club. Vote of thanks was proposed by secretary Dr Shameer C Sulaiman

The IMA AMS Mid Zone Conference,AMSCON2017 .Registration started at 8.30 am. The scientific session started at 9 am with the topic “ Computer Work Related Injuries” by Dr.SimonMathew,Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon ,Daya Hospital ,Thrissur,chaired by Dr.Koshy George. The second topic was “Diagnosis and Management of GOUT” by Dr Paul T Antony Asst.Professor and HOD Dept.of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology Amala Institute of Medical Sciences Thrissur,Chaired by Dr N.D.Varghese.The third topic was“Is our Doctors Overstressed – How to relax “ by Dr.T. M. AnandaKesavan ,Addl. Professor of Paediatrics ,Govt. Medical College Thrissur ,chaired by Dr.Vargese Paul .This was followed by tea break.The inaugural Ceremony commenced at 10.40 am with a prayer song by Pournami Mukesh.Flag salutation was done by the secretary Dr.Shameer C Sulaiman .The President Dr Joshy Thomas  welcomed all the dignitaries ,faculties and delegates who attended the conference.The IMA AMS State Chairman Dr.SurendraBabuV.P,in his presidential address congratulated IMA Kunnamkulam for taking up the conference in a big way .IMA-AMS Report presented by Dr Roy R Chandran Secretary IMA AMS .Introduction of  CME done by IMA AMS org.Chairman Dr.K.R.Mukesh. Quiz programme on ECG,X-ray, clinical photograph & personality identification was conducted for the delegates& prizes distributed .The post lunch session started with “Colorectal Cancer-Current Concepts” by Dr.Haridas T V ,Asso. Prof of Surgery GMC   Thrissur,chaired by Dr.AshokVarma .The next topic was on “Interpretation of Thyroid Function Tests” by Dr.Jaffer C P ,Clinical Prof.&Consultant Physician A-shifaHospital,Perinthalmanna. Chaired by Dr TomyC.P.The last session was by Dr.JagadishMenon,Prof of Orthopaedics,JIPMER Pondicherry, on “Care of the Critically Injured”, chaired by Dr.Unnikrishnan.vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.shameerC.Sulaiman.Meeting came to a close at 4 pm & almost 152 delegates attended. International Women’s Day  Special project. EARLY DETECTION CAMP FOR BREAST CANCER AND AWARENESS  PROGRAMME –
In connection with International Women’s Day, IMA in association with IDA,Kunnamkulam, ThalukHospital,WIMA and Cochin Cancer Society conducted a free mammogram camp  for poor and needy ladies above 40  in and around Kunnamkulam.The camp was conducted at Thaluk Hospital. Muncipal Chairperson inaugurated the function.Dr.K.V.Devadas past IMA State President presided over the function .23 ladies above 40 years were subjected to free mammogram. 2 ladies with suspected lesions were subjected to ultrasonogram also. An awareness class on breast cancer was taken by Dr.Azad.

Free Tooth paste and brush were given.Dental checkup  was done for 75 students .

IMA Kunnamkulam in Association with MazuvancherySwandanam Charitable society conducted a Mega medical camp, Awareness class and formation of Blood donation Sena.ChoondalPanchayat President Mr K.S.Kareem presided over the function. Officialinauguration of the campwas  done by Hon. MLA Mr.MuraliPerunelli. World Tuberculosis Day was observed  along with monthly medical camp at IMA House, Kanippayur. A health Awareness class on Tuberculosis was conducted by Dr Joshy Thomas, Physician for sixty patients who attended  the camp.

March 26^thMonthly free medical camp for the underprivileged was conducted  at IMA House with free blood sugar estimation, Hb estimation and distribution of free medicines.Dr.Shaji P. S and Dr Joshy Thomas examined around sixty patients.

A team of three doctors from IDA also examined patients to access for any oral lesions and dental hygiene and free medicines and tooth paste were distributed.

Jismi , welcomed the gathering. Pediatrician Dr Saju. P K,took an awareness class on Measles and Vaccinations in Children to around 50 nursing students.

REPORT OF ACTIVITIES OF IMA KUNNAMKULAM FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2017

February 1^ST  : NO TO NEXT PROTEST

Thrissur DTF organized no exit exam protest in 3 Medical Colleges of Thrissur District. IMA Kunnamkulam participated actively in the organization of the protest strike. Dr.K.V. Devadas and Dr.Saju PK played the key roles in organizing and giving leadership to the students in the protest meeting.

February 3^RD  : DEALING WITH DIABETES PROJECT PROGRAM
Free Friday Diabetic Clinic was conducted at SHRC by IMA Kunnamkulam. Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. 10 patients attended. Free Blood Sugar estimation was done.

February 4^th : WORLD CANCER DAY

In connection with World Cancer day,  IMA Kunnamkulam in association with WIMA Kunnamkulam and Pain& Palliative unit Kunnamkulam conducted a World Cancer Day Program with a cancer awareness talk . After the Presidential address by Kunnamkulam Pain and Palliative unit President Mr Gafoor, the program was officially inaugurated by Dr. Joshy Thomas, president of IMA Kunnamkulam and a cancer awareness talk was given by him. Felicitations were offered by Dr. Thilakavathy Ammayar, chairperson of WIMA and Dr. Shameer Sulaiman, secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam. IMA Kunnamkulam donated 3 air beds to pain and palliative unit of Kunnamkulam . Vote of thanks was proposed by Past IMA state president Dr. K.V. Devadas.

February 6^TH  : BLS WORKSHOP AT ELAVALLY
IMA Kunnamkulam in connection with Ayalkootam Sangamam, Elavally conducted BLS Training Workshop for the members of the Ayalkootam club. Mr T.C Mohanan, panchayat member inuagurated the function. Dr.Ajith T conducted the BLS Training. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ayalkootam club president Mr Suneesh. 90 members of the club participated.

February 7^TH : EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

Executive meeting was held at IMA house. 23 members attened.

 

February 9^TH : FREE MEDICAL CAMP

IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Rotary Club & WIMA conducted a Medical Camp for the students of Govt.Model Girls High School in the afternoon. Dr.Jacob Roy, Dr.K R Mukesh, Dr.Rajagopal, Dr.Shaji P S &Dr.Joshy Thomas examined 200 students & free medicines were given.

February 10^TH  : DEALING WITH DIABETES PROJECT PROGRAMS

 

IMA Kunnamkulam conducted 2 programs under Dealing with Diabetes Project.

 

1. NDEP course for Paramedics

The first program was under the NDEP course for Paramedics. The 5th module of NDEP 2016-17 was conducted today by the course trainer Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman. The module was on Microvascular complications of Diabetes and 8 students attended

2.Free Friday Diabetic Clinic conducted at SHRC by IMA Kunnamkulam. Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. 16 patients attended. Free Blood Sugar estimation was done.

February 12^TH  : MANAGING COMMITTEE OF SCHEMES

Managing Committee Meeting of Schemes held at IMA State Head Quarters Thiruvanthapuram was attended by Dr.K.V .Devadas,Dr.Ninan Koothoor, Dr.Ditto Tom & Dr. P. Sundaresh Kumar.

February 14^th  : 7^th General Body Meeting & 6^th CME

Meeting was called to order at 8.30pm by president Dr.Joshy Thomas. President welcomed all members to the meeting.  A special welcome note was given to guest speaker Dr.Jayanthi Vijayakumar Hemato Oncology Transplant Fellow Minnesota USA. Dr.Ajith. T.introuduced the guest speaker and she gave an excellent talk on ‘Hematological Emergencies’. The topic was well discussed and highly appreciated. Dr.Padmasini presented a memento to the guest speaker.

DISTRICT LEVEL INAUGURATION OF IMA UNICEF PROJECT

District Level inauguration of IMA UNICEF project was done on the same occasion. Dr. SanthoshBabu, DTF Chairman inaugurated the function. UNICEF project coordinator Dr.N.S Iyyer spoke on the occasion. Branch Nodal officer Dr.Rajagopal gave an LCD awareness presentation.

51 members attended the meeting.

February 19^TH  : SWC MEETING AT PALA

253^rd  IMA SWC Meeting held at Pala Sun Star Convention Centre was attended by eight members from IMA Kunnamkulam – Dr. Joshy Thomas, Dr. K.V. Devadas, Dr. Shameer C. Sulaiman, Dr. C. P. Ravunnikutty, Dr. KoshyGeorge, Dr. C.K. Madhusudanan, Dr. Ninan Koothoor and Dr. Saju P.K.

February 21^st  : AMSCON 2017 ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

The first Organizing Committee meeting of the IMA MIDZONE CONFERENCE AMSCON 2017 to be hosted by IMA Kunnamkulam on April 30^th this year was conducted at Hotel Taste Manthra, Kunnamkulam. 15 members attended the meeting.

February 23^rd : PRESS CONFERENCE

A press conference was conducted to announce free mammogram to poor needy female patients above 40yrs which IMA Kunnamkulam plans to conduct on March 8^th, International Women’s Day, in association with Indian Dental Association, Kunnamkulam Taluk Hospital,  WIMA & Cochin Cancer Society.

February 24^TH : DEALING WITH DIABETES PROJECT PROGRAM

Free Friday Diabetic Clinic conducted at SHRC by IMA Kunnamkulam. Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. 18 patients attended . Free Blood Sugar estimation was done.

February24^th : AROGYAMYTHRI MONTHLY CAMP

The monthly camp of Arogya Mythri was held at the adopted village on 24.02.2017. IMA  Kunnamkulam in association with Chandanam Charitable Trust, Karikkad conducted free medical camp . Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. Free medicines were given and Free Blood Sugar estimation was done. 31 patients attended the camp.

February 26^th  : WORLD LEPROSY DAY PROGRAM
World Leprosy Day was observed at IMA House Puthussery by IMA and WIMA. An awareness class was taken by Leprosy non medical supervisor of Kunnamkulam muncipal area Mr.Ajay Ghosh. Around 60 people attended. Program was conducted along with monthly medical camp. WIMA chairperson Dr.Thilakavathy handed over a memento to the speaker.

February 26^TH : MONTHLY MEDICAL CAMP AT IMA HOUSE
Free Monthly medical camp for the underprivileged patients was conducted today at IMA house Puthussery. Dr.Mohan Thomas, Dr.Joshy Thomas, Dr.Ajith examined patients. 60 patients attended. Free blood sugar estimation & distribution of free drugs were part of the program.

Februay 27^th : BLOOD GROUP DETECTION CAMP

IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Shanthi Nursing Home conducted Blood Grouping Test for 200 students at Good Sheperd school, Kunnamkulam.

January 15^th: Arogya Mythri Inauguration and Village Adoption

 

The official inauguration of this year’s ArogyaMythri program of IMA Kunnamkulam was conducted  at Al Ameen School, Karikkad. The function was presided over by the Kadavallur Panchayat president Smt. Shobhana. IMA president Dr. Joshy Thomas welcomed the audience. The official inauguration of ArogyaMythri was done by Hon. Minister for industry and MLA of Kunnamkulam Shri. A.C. Moideen. The formal adoption of Karikkad village was done by State ArogyaMythri convenor Dr. P.K. Saju by handing over the official adoption document to ward member Mr. Shabeer. Secretary Dr.Shammer Sulaiman proposed vote of thanks.

January 15^th: World Community Service Day

World community service day was observed in the same function by donating 10kg rice each to 50 deserving families of Kadavallur panchayath.President handed over the rice bags in the presence of Hon.Minister, panchayath president,vice president & ward member

January 15^th: Combating Cardiac Disease Project

As part of IMA Kunnamkulam’s ongoing programme of “Combating Heart disease”, a cardiac disease detection camp was conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Unity Heart care where 110 patients were examined, free blood sugar & free ECG were done for needy patients. Dr.Akhil P C Cardiologist, Dr.Joshy Thomas Physician ,Dr.Varghese Job &Dr.Lisna examined patients at St.Xavier’s Church Koonammuchi.

 

January 15^th: Health Education Class

A health awareness talk on “Life Style Modifications to prevent cardiac disease” was given by Dr.Varghese Job for the patients who attended the heart disease detection camp.

January 17^th: DTF Meeting

 DTF meeting held at IMA hall Thrissur, 9 members attended.Kunnamkulam branch member Dr.Saju P K took over as the new DTF convenor.

January 22^nd:  Health Education Class and Monthly Medical Camp

IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a Health Education Class on Osteoporosis.  Dr. Koshy George orthopaedician took the class at   IMA House for patients and relatives prior to the Monthly Free Medical Camp. This was followed by Free BMD estimation for all who attended. Later, Dr. Mohan Thomas C. and Dr. Jibu Kurukkal examined the patients and distributed free medicines. Free Blood Sugar Estimation was also done. 50 patients were examined.

January 23^rd:  Panel Discussion
IMA Kunnamkulam Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman was invited as a panelist in a panel discussion on ‘How to improve our public education system’ at the “PODUVIDYBHYASA SAMRAKSHANA YAJNAM” conducted by TMVHSS, Perumpilav. The function was inaugurated by Panchayat president Smt. Shobana. Panchayat vice president Mr. VP Sudheer, School Headmistress Smt. Liza, PTA president Mr. Babu M Palissery and Mr. VP Shafeeq were the other panelists

January 24^th: 6^th General Body Meeting & 5^th CME  was held on January 24^th.

6^th general body & 5^th CME of IMA Kunnamkulam was conducted on January24^th. Dr.Prasanth Varghese, Asst.Prof.of Neurology ,Jubilee  Mission Medical College was the guest speaker. He spoke on approach to common neurological symptoms. The IMA AMS ECG quiz was conducted by Cardiologist Dr.Akhil. The release of ‘Pulse’- the official quarterly news letter of IMA Kunnamkulam was done by the Chief Guest. Dr. P.K. Saju, Chief Editor handed over the newsletter to the Chief Guest for release. Dr. K.V. Devadas, Past State President and CWC Member explained the program for the No to NEXT Strike on 1^st February.

51 members attended.

ECG Quiz by IMA AMS was presented by DrAkhil. The prizes were won by Dr. Shaji PS and Dr. Koshy George.

January 26^th: Republic Day Celerations

Republic day  was observed at IMA  House. President Dr.JoshY Thomas hoisted the National flag at IMA House Kanippayyur at 8.30 am. Sweets were distributed.

January 27^th: Arogya Mythri School Adoption

Inauguration of the  ArogyaMythri School Adoption program of IMAKunnamkulam was conducted during a function organized by IMA Kunnamkulam  at CMLP School Karikkad in connection with PODUVIDYABYASA SAMRAKSHANA YACHNJAM. The function was presided over by the IMA president Dr. Joshy Thomas. CMLP School Head Mistress Mrs.Gladis welcomed the audience. Official inuagration of school adoption was done by  Kadavallur panchayat   Vice president Mr.Sudeer. The formal adoption of CMLP School  was officially performed by IMA President Dr. Joshy Thomas by handing over the official adoption document to Head Mistress and ward member Mr. Shabeer. Pledge of Poduvidyabyasa Samrakshana Yanchnjam was read out by lMA Secretary Dr. Shameer Sulaiman.
January 28^th: Arogya Mythri Monthly Medical Camp at Adopted Village

‘AROGYAMYTHRI‘ free monthly medical camp at Karikkad, the adopted village of  IMA  Kunnamkulam in association with Chandanam Charitable Trust, Karikkad was conducted on January 28^th. Secratary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. Free medicines and blood sugar estimation were done. 26 patients attended the camp .

January 29^th: Pulse Polio Program

IMA Kunnamkulam actively participated in this year’s Pulse Polio Programme. Inaugural function was conducted at Taluk Hospital, Kunnamkulam. The program was inaugurated by the Kunnamkulam Muncipal chairperson. IMA president Dr. joshy Thomas and Taluk Hospital supt. Dr. Taj Paul Panakkal were present.

December 1^st : WORLD AIDS DAY AT TALUQ HOSPITAL

IMA Kunnamkulam in association with WIMA conducted a World AIDS day  programme at Kunnamkulam Taluk Hospital. The welcome speech was given by hospital superintendent Dr. Taj Paul. The function was presided over by Municipal Health Standing Committee Chairperson Mrs. Suma Gangadaran and felicitations were offered by Secretary Dr Shameer C. Sulaiman and WIMA Joint Convenor Mrs Bency Joshy  and Vote of Thanks by HIV programme convenor Ms. Anitha . AIDS pledge was led by Mr. Harshan. The AIDS awareness Health Education Class was taken by Dr. Joshy Thomas. After the class, the president distributed Red Ribbons as a token of solidarity with AIDS victims.

December 1^st  : WORLD AIDS DAY AT MALANKARA HOSPITAL                     

World AIDS Day program at Malankara Hospital, Aduppootty: On 1st December 2016, IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a Staff Training Program at Malankara hospital in connection with World AIDS Day. Dr. Babu Mathew P. took class on Universal Precautions for AIDS for nursing staff, sweepers and attenders of the hospital.

December 2^nd  : RECEPTION TO IPP

On December 2^nd , a warm reception was accorded by the MM Complex association, Guruvayur Road, Kunnamkulam to Dr. C.P. Ravunnikkutty to felicitate him on being awarded the Dr. Thomas Vaidyan Award for the best local branch president of IMA in Kerala state.

December 3 : INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED

On the occasion of World Disabled Day, IMA  Kunnamkulam in association with WIMA and Tropical Health Foundation of India conducted a Health Education Class on “Issues faced by the Disabled Child and Parents” by Dr. Subramanian, senior consultant, Thrissur Govt Mental Hospital .    After the welcome speech by Dr. K. Jacob Roy, director of THFI, the introduction of the speaker was done by Dr.  Cyriac George(Psychiatrist).   The function was presided over by  IMA President Dr.Joshy Thomas.  Dr.  Thilakavathy Ammiyar Chairperson WIMA presented memento to the guest speaker. Vote of thanks was proposed by secretary  Dr.  Shameer C Sulaiman. Following this, there was a medical camp for the children and their parents.40 disabled children and parents attended. Free Blood Sugar estimation and BP check were done. Free medicines were distributed. Dr. Joshy Thomas and Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients.

 3^rd executive meeting held on 06^th  December 2016.

December 7^th  : RECEPTION TO AWARDS WINNERS

A warm reception was given to IMA KUNNAMKULAM state award winners Dr. C. P.  Ravunnikutty ,DrGeetha Devi and DrShaji P. S by Kariyambra ward in Katakambal panchayat where the IMA Kunnamkulam project for the elderly ‘SnehapoorvamVayojanangalkku’ was conducted regularly last year with great success and appreciation from the public.  Panchayath president Sadanandan Master inaugurated the function and presented mementos to the award winners. MrManikandan, ward member expressed vote of thanks

December 8^th  : DEALING WITH DIABETES PROJECT

December 11^th  : MEDICAL CAMP FOR ELDERLY

Elderly Care Free medical camp SnehapoorvamVayojanangalkai was conducted at Pazhanji .DrRavunnikutty, DrGeethadevi, Dr Shaji.P.S. examined patients and free medicines were given.

December 13^th  : GENERAL BODY AND CME

The 4^th CME and General Body meeting of ima Kunnamkulam was held on December 13^th

Meeting started at 8.15pm.President Dr.Joshy Thomas presided over the meeting.Dr.Ajit Thachil consultant Cardio Electro Physiologist, Lisie Hospital Kochi was the guest speaker for the CME. He gave an excellent  talk on Common Arrythmias and their management.

December 18^th  : PRESIDENTS AND SECRETARIES MEET

Presidents/Secretaries meet at Trivandrum was attended by President Dr. Joshy Thomas and Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman.

December 18 : RECEPTION TO AWARD WINNERS

A warm reception was given to Dr. Ravunnikutty and Team IMA for the award winning performance by Chittanjur LP school (adopted school for Arogya Mythri) at a function organised at the school.

December 19^th  : COMBATING CARDIAC DISEASE PROJECT
As second activity of IMA Kunnamkulam branch’s project named “Combating Cardiac Disease” IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Unity Heart Care conducted a cardiac disease detection camp at Kadangode in which cardiologist Dr.Akhil, Dr.Varghese Job &Dr.Meera examined 110 patients & free ECG, blood sugar &cholestrol estimations were done.

December 19^th  : SOWHRUDHA PROJECT AND HEALTH EDUCATION CLASS
An Anaemia detection camp was conducted under the Sowhrudha project of WIMA in which Hb estimation of around 50 patients were done & along with this a health awareness class on anaemia was conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam. Physician

Dr.MohanThomas took the class.This was a combined venture of IMA Kunnamkulam& WIMA. WIMA Secretary Dr.Jasmi proposed vote of thanks. Dr.C P Tomy & Mrs.BencyJoshy attended the function.

Monthly Free Medical Camp was conducted at IMA House. Free blood sugar estimation & distribution of free medicines for one month was done .Dr.Mohan Thomas, Dr.C.P.Tommy & Dr.Jasmi examined the patients.

December 19^th  : CANCER DETECTION CAMP

IMA &WIMA KUNNAMKULAM in association with Santhi Nursing Home conducted breast cancer detection camp on 19/12/2016. Dr Sreekala Rajesh examined the patients.

December 25^th : MEDICAL CAMP FOR ELDERLY

 

2^nd Medical camp for the elderly –SnehapoorvamVayojanangalkai conducted at Pazhanji. Dr.Ravunnikutty  and Dr.Geetha Devi  examined the patients and free medicines were given.

December 27^th : IMA NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Dr. K.V. Devadas attended the meeting. Dr Joshy Thomas, Dr. Shameer C.Sulaiman, Dr. Ravunnikutty, Dr. Shaji P.S registered as delegates for the conference.

December 30 : DEALING WITH DIABETES PROJECT

‘AROGYAMYTHRI ‘ monthly camp at adopted village 30.12.2016. IMA  Kunnamkulam in association with Chandanam Charitable Trust, Karikkad conducted free medical camp. Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. Free medicines were given and Free Blood Sugar estimation was done. 18 patients attended the camp.

 

 

December 30 : HEALTH EDUCATION CLASS FOR NSS

 

IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a Health education class for NSS Camp Students from CMS Higher Secondary School Thrissur at Kadavalloor Govt High School. Welcome address by programme officer MrT.P.Joy and a class on Life Style diseases  was taken by  Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman.  Vote of thanks by team leader MrJobi

 

December 31^st :

5^th General Body Meeting And X-MAS/NEW YEAR Family Get-together.

Dr.Joshy Thomas presided over the meeting. Dr.Sara Thomas past president gave Christmas & NEW Year Message after which a colourful variety entertainment programme was conducted.150 IMA & family members attended.

November1st

 

The 2^nd Executive committee Meeting was held at IMA House, Kanippayyur on November 1^st. A detailed discussion about the attendance and arrangements of the upcoming state conference and  the state council meeting as well as other important matters like communications from the State, Health Scheme amendment for malignancies, matters regarding the IMA House maintainance and building tax were considered. It was decided to start a facebook page for the branch.

 

November 2^nd

The Life Support and Training Committee of IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a Special Training Program for the Mustafa Memorial Swathantra Drivers Association, Andathode, on 2nd November, 2016 as a part of a Road Traffic Awareness Program and 24 hour Road Safety Pamphlet Distribution Campaign. Mr. P Viswambharan, Kunnamkulam DYSP inaugurated the function and honoured selected drivers for safe driving. Dr. Ajith T conducted a First Aid Class and BLS workshop for the drivers. Dr. Rajesh Krishnan, Chairman of IMAKunnamkulam Literary Club conducted  an Awareness Talk on ‘The importance of Literary Material and Media in Road Safety ‘.

This was followed by a Seminar on Road Safety. Mr. A D Dhaneep, Punnayurkulampanchayath president, Mr. K M Abdu ,Road accident action forum state president, Mr. S R Shaji, Joint RTO Guruvayoor, Mr. Mohith P K ,SI Vadakkekad, Mr. K G Suresh, CI Chavakkad, Mr. K R Suresh, MVI Ponnani, Dr. Ajith T and Dr. Rajesh Krishnan participated in the seminar.

Pamphlet distribution to drivers passing Andathod junction on NH 17  continued till 10 am on 3.11.2016

 

November 3rd

A face book page exclusive for IMA Kunnamkulam was opened. Dr. Jerry Joseph is in charge of this.

November 4^th

 

IMA Kunnamkulam conducted 2 programs under Dealing with Diabetes Project on 4^thNovember .

 

The first program was under the NDEP course for Paramedics. The second module of NDEP 2016-17 was conducted by the course trainer Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman. The module was on Basics of Diabetes and 12 students attended.

The second program was the Free Friday Diabetic Clinic conducted at SHRC by IMA Kunnamkulam. Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. 15 patients attended today’s clinic. Free Blood Sugar estimation was done.

November 6^th

 

As part of the Cataract Camp Series, IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a cataract detection camp in collaboration with KunnamkulamMunicipality and SHRC at Aduppootty. Dr. Lakshmi examined  the patients. This is part of an ONGOING CATARACT DETECTION PROJECT OF IMA KUNNAMKULAM started in association with Kunnamkulam Municipality being conducted serially in all wards of the municipality this year. Out of the 73 patients who were examined in the camp, 4 deserving patients will have free surgery done for them.

 

 

November 6^th

 

IMA Kunnamkulam in association with St. De Paul club Chemmannur  and Malabar Eye Hospital conducted a Medical Camp and Ophthalmic Evaluation Camp at St Sebastian’s Church,Chemmannur. Municipal chairperson inaugarated the camps. Dr. Shaji  P S conducted  a Health Education Class about Life Style Diseases and treatment. Municipal councillor O V Bhaji expressed vote of thanks. 45 patients were examined.

November 10^th

 

IMA Kunnamkulam inaugurated the ‘NallaKaumaram-NallaPauratwam’ project for the year at a function held at TMHS Perumpilav on 10. 11. 2016. As announced as part of KERALAPPIRAVI celebration, the Literary Club of IMA Kunnamkulam in association with SHRC, Kunnamkulam donated one year newspaper subscription to TMHS, Perumpilav. This is to promote the reading habit as well as general knowledge and contemporary awareness in school children. The project was inaugurated by Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman, secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam. Dr. Shameer stressed the need for informed citizenship and the role of newspaper reading habit in this. On behalf of the Literary Club of IMA Kunnamkulam, he handed over the first copy of the newspaper to the school captain. The school principal Mrs. Leeza Mathew presided over the function. Staff representative Mr. Denny Job proposed the vote of thanks

November 11^th -13^th

 

The Annual State Conference of IMA KSB – ‘PeriyarMedfest’ at CIAL Nedumbassery was attended by 20 members from the branch. IMA Kunnamkulam received a total of 10 awards of IMA KSB, in various categories. DR PAREED PILLAI MEMORIAL SHIELD  for the second best IMA branch in the state, The best WIMA branch award, Dr N.K.THOMAS VAIDYAN AWARD for the Best local branch president to Dr. C. P. Ravunnikutty, President appreciation awards to Dr. Koshy George, Dr. Saju P.K, Dr. Ninan Kuthoor, Dr. Rini Raveendran, Dr. Unnikrishnan T. and two appreciation awards for IMA AMS chapter.

WORLD DIABETES DAY PROGRAMS

          IMA and WIMA Kunnamkulam conducted some well participated programs on the 14^th of November in connection with World Diabetes Day. The media were briefed prior to the date of the programs and the resultant coverage in the newspapers as well as TV channels was excellent. PRESS CONFERENCE

November 11^th

On the 11^th of November, IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a press meet at Kunnamkulam Press Club. Dr. Joshy Thomas, President and Dr. Shameer C. Sulaiman met the representatives of printed and visual media and explained in detail the various programs planned in connection with the World Diabetes Day as well as the aims and modus operandi of the proposed All India Satyegraha of IMA against the NMC bill.

November 14^th

WORLD DIABETES DAY PROGRAM AT SHRC KUNNAMKULAM

 

The program started with a prayer at 10 am. Municipal Ward Councilor Mrs. Mini Moncy presided over the function. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Joshy Thomas K, president of  IMA Kunnamkulam. Felicitations were given by Mr. Yesudas and Mr. Ummer.

 

Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman took a health education class on WDD THEME – EYES FOR DIABETES

A health publication PRAMEHA PRABODHINI was released specially for the occasion by IMA Kunnamkulam and was formally released for the public by the president Dr. Joshy Thomas.

In connection with CHILDREN’S DAY, a special program was arranged for Type I Diabetic Children in the form of FORMATION OF A DIABETIC CLUB with 9 children and families as members. They had an experience sharing session.

WORLD DIABETES DAY PROGRAMS IN KUNNAMKULAM TOWN

MEDICAL CAMPS

3 DIABETIC SCREENING BLOOD SUGAR CAMPS were conducted in 3 places in various parts of Kunnamkulam town by IMA Kunnamkulam. 1356 people tested positive for diabetes in these camps.

GLOBAL DIABETES WALK

At 3 pm. the GLOBAL DIABETIC WALK was conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam with the participation of various hospitals and schools of Kunnamkulam and WIMA Kunnamkulam. The Walk was flagged off by the Municipal Chairperson Mrs. SeethaRavindran. Around 200 people participated.

WDD PROGRAM AT GOVERNMENT BOY’S HS KUNNAMKULAM.   

A Program was arranged by IMA Kunnamkulam at Government Boys High School on 14^th November, 2016. The principal of the school Mrs. AshaLatha presided over the function. The program was formally inaugurated by the Immediate Past President of IMA Kunnamkulam Dr. C. P. Ravunnikutty. Staff and student representatives spoke on the occasion.

The function was followed by a Health Education Class on Lifestyle Diseases by Dr. C. P. Ravunnikutty.

After the class, Dr. Ravunnikutty flagged off the Walk for Diabetes in which the students and staff of the school participated.

November 15^th

2^nd General Body Meeting and 2^nd CME on 15^thNovember, 2016

President welcomed all members to the meeting. A special welcome note was given to the speaker Dr. P. Sundaresh Kumar, consultant general surgeon, Unity Hospital Kunnamkulam. Dr Ashok Varma introduced the speaker and Dr. P. Sundaresh Kumar gave an excellent talk on Lincosamide, after which the topic was well discussed and appreciated. Dr. Reji presented memento to the guest speaker.

Xray Quiz  by IMA AMS was presented by Dr.Akhil . Prizes were won by Dr Mohammed Nisar, Dr Ashok Varma & Dr Rajesh Krishnan.

IMA past State president Dr Devadas discussed the NMC Bill. He requested maximum members from the branch to attend the sathyagraha against National Medical Commission Bill on 16thNovember from 11am to 1pm near Collectorate, Thrissur. Then  President requested  all members to attend the sathyagraha and explained the details of conveyance .

Later President detailed about the recently conducted Annual State conference Periyar Medfest at CIAL, Nedumbassery, where 20 members attended and announced the award winners of IMA Kunnamkulam.

RECEPTION TO STATE AWARD WINNERS

A warm reception was given to the state award winners of Kunnamkulam IMA. This programme was emceed by past president Dr. Koshy George. In his address he congratulated all the winners especially Dr.Ravunnikutty and  Dr.Geethadevi for bringing the Dr. Pareed Pillai Award for the 2^nd best local branch & the Dr N K Thomas Vaidyan award for best president again and WIMA best branch award for the first time in the history of WIMA Kunnamkulam. Then the previous Pareed Pillai Shield winners of our branch history honoured the present award winners on behalf of the branch – Dr. Thambi Vargese presented a memento to Dr. Ravunnikutty, Dr. Devadas presented a memento to Dr. Shaji  and Dr. N D Vargese  presented a memento to  Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman. For WIMA, Dr. Sarah Thomas, the charter chairperson presented a memento to Dr. Padmasini and Dr. Nileena Koshy, charter secretary presented a memento to Dr. Geetha Devi . Dr. Ravunnikutty in his acceptance speech expressed his gratitiude and Dr. Shaji  and Dr. Geetha thanked the members for their cooperation. IMA Kunnamkulam received a total of 10 awards of IMA KSB, invarious categories. DR PAREED PILLAI MEMORIAL SHIELD  for the second best branch, The best WIMA branch award, Best local branch president Dr N.K.THOMAS VAIDYAN AWARD to DrRavunnikutty, president appreciation awards to DrKoshyGeorge, DrSaju P.K, DrNinanKuthoor, DrRiniRaveendran and DrUnnikrishnan and IMA AMS got 2 Appreciation awards.

A rally against Drug Abuse as part of Bodhapournami program was organised by IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Kerala Kaumudi and Janamaithri Police on 16th November 2016. IPP of IMA Kunnamkulam Dr. C.P. Ravunnikutty flagged off  the rally. WIMA members Dr.Geetha Devi and BencyJoshy participated in the function. NSS students of Govt Boys High School  accompanied the rally. Municipal Chairperson Mrs.SeethaRaveendran inaugurated the meeting. There was an Awareness class on Drug Abuse conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam for the students  also.

November 20th

As part of IMA Kunnamkulam’s project of “Fight against Ischeamic Heart Disease” a Cardiac disease detection camp was conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Unity Heart Care at the adpted village for Arogya Mythri – Karikad near Pazhanji. Around 100 patients were examined and free ECG, Cholesterol , Blood sugar evaluations were done for needy patients. Dr.Akhil P C cardiologist, Dr.Joshy Thomas Physician, Dr.Varghese Job, director Unity Health Services & Dr.Akhila examined patients from 9 AM to 1 PM.

November 20^th

As part of “World Diabetic Week observation”, IMA Kunnamkulam along with WIMA Kunnamkulam conducted a diabetic detection camp at St.Mary’s church Puthussery. President Dr.Joshy Thomas took a health education class on Diabetes and its Complications. WIMA

Kunnamkulam donated a glucometer to the community service cell of the church which was handed over by Mrs. Usha Varghese Paul & Mrs. Bency Joshy. 52 patients were examined which included 18 diabetic patients. Free medicines were distributed.

November 20th

Elderly Care Free medical camp SnehapoorvamVayojanangalkai was conducted at Pazhanji on Sunday 20th November. Dr.Ravunnikutty and Dr.Geetha Devi examined patients and free medicines were given.

November 21^st

DEALING WITH DIABETES PROJECT – PDB PROJECT – JOINT VENTURE OF IMA AND AIOS. In connection with World Diabetes Day programmes, IMA Kunnamkulam conducted  one week (November 14 – 21) diabetic detection and retinopathy  screening clinic at southzone eye hospital. ( PDB   project in association with AIOS).
Dr. Shija Unnikrishnan examined patients. Total patients – 85
Diabetic screening
FBS >120 group – 18 patients.  From this group,  2 patients had diabetic retinopathy
PPBS >150 group- 22 patients. From this group, 6 patients had diabetic retinopathy.

November 25^th

Free Friday Diabetic Clinic conducted at SHRC by IMA Kunnamkulam. Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. 14 patients attended today’s clinic. Free Blood Sugar estimation was done.

November 25^th
‘AROGYAMYTHRI‘ monthly camp at adopted village 25 .11.2016. IMA  Kunnamkulam in association with Chandanam Charitable Trust, Karikkad conducted free medical camp. Secratary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. Free medicines were given. 20 patients attended the camp today.

November 27^th

As part of IMA Kunnamkulam’s monthly programme for the upliftment of underprivileged communities in the neighbourhood, the free monthly medical camp was conducted on 27th Sunday at IMA house Puthussery in which 65 patients were examined with free blood sugar estimation & distribution of free medicines. Dr. Mohan Thomas, Dr. Reju Royce & Dr. Edwin led the camp and examined the patients.

 

November 28^th

Kunnamkulam Town honours IMA KUNNAMKULAM.

IMA KUNNAMKULAM was honoured by KUNNAMKULAM  MUNICIPAL COUNCIL at the council hall of Kunnamkulam. In a simple function’s presided over by Municipal Chairperson  Mrs. Seetha Raveendran and attended by all the council members, Dr. C. P.  Ravunnikutty was honoured with a Ponnada and a Memento for having received the award for the best president of an IMA local branch in the state. Dr.Geetha Devi and Dr. Padmasini received the Mementos for WIMA and  Dr. Shaji received the memento for the branch.
It was a coincidence that Dr. Ravunnikutty and Dr. Geeta Devi celebrated their wedding anniversary at the same venue. Best wishes were offered to them.

 

November 29^th

3^rd  CME and General Body meeting

The 3^rd CME and GBM of IMA Kunnamkulam was held on 29^th November at IMA House Kanippayyur. The meeting was called to order at 8.15pm by president Dr. Joshy Thomas after being collared by the secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman. After a silent prayer, flag salutation and monthly activity report by the secretary, the President welcomed all members to the meeting  A special welcome note was given to guest speaker Dr C.J Varghese, Head, minimal access surgery, GEM Hospital and Research Centre, Thrissur. Dr. Sundaresh Kumar introduced the guest speaker and Dr. Varghese gave an excellent talk on Surgery for Obesity and Diabetes which was well discussed and appreciated. Dr Ashok Varma  presented a memento to the guest speaker.

Later president detailed about the function in which IMA kunnamkulam was honoured by Kunnamkulam Municipal Council at the Council Hall of Kunnamkulam. Dr. Ravunnikutty, Dr. Shaji and Dr. Geetha Devi and Dr. Padmasini were honoured. IAP best branch award was won by thrissur branch and secretary Dr. Mukesh and Rajagopal. President congratulated both of them.

IMA Kerala State  selected IMA Kunnamkulam branch as one among branches from thrissur district for UNICEF programme , planning to conduct health awareness classes in schools. Initial meeting was held on 27^th November at Kochi. Dr. Mukesh and Dr. Rajagopal attended the meeting.

Then president announced that Dr Jacob Roy has been selected for the life time achievement award from Mahathma Gandhi university .He congratulated him.

Later president announced the wedding anniversary of ipp Dr. C P Ravunnikutty and ips of wima Dr, Geeth Devi. Cake cutting was done and best wishes offered to them.

Meeting was adjourned by the president after national anthem at 10 pm. 42 members attended the meeting.

October 4^th.:Installation Ceremony

The installation ceremony of IMA Kunnamkulam was held in a grand annual general body meeting at IMA House Kanipayyuron the 4^th of October. Dr. Joshy Thomas K, MD, Consultant Physician, Unity Hospital, Kanippayyurwas sworn in as the President for the year 2016-17 and Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman and Dr. Unnikrishanan T took charge as secretary and treasurer respectively.Past president of IMA KSB Dr.K V Devadasofficiatedthe ceremony.Dr. CP Ravunnykuttypresided over the august function.Dr. Shaji P S presented the annual report for 2015-16.Reports of WIMA,AMS,CGP as well as the branch accounts were presented by the respective office bearers.IPPDr.Koshy George introduced the incoming president.Past presidentsDr. CK Madhusudhanan and Dr. PSundaresh Kumar felicitated.

October 6^th.:World Elders Day

IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a Medical Camp andan Interactive Health Session for the inmates of Dementia Centre,Kottappady in connection with World Elders Month.Dr. Joshy Thomas and DrShameerC.Sulaiman examined the patients. IMA Kunnamkulamdonated Blankets and cakes to the Dementia Centre for the inmates.

October 8^th. : First Aid Class and BLS Workshop

IMA Kunnamkulam organized a program which included a First Aid Class and a Basic Life Support Workshop on the basics of first aid and Life Support at the Annual Scout and Guides camp of Chavakad Educational District  at the Govt. High School ,Velur.Dr. Ajith T led the workshop

October 9^th.:Special State Council Meeting

PresidentDr. Joshy Thomas and Immediate past president Dr. Ravunnikutty attended the Special State Council Meeting on 9th October at IMA Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram.

October 10^th . : World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Dayprogramwas conducted at the South Zone Hospital and Research Centre, Kunnamkulam on the 10^th of October and the first Staff Training Program of this year was conducted by IMA Kunnamkulam during this program. Dr. Cyriac George, Psychiatrist, Mental Hospital, Thrisurtook a session for the staff of the hospital regarding Psychological First Aid. He explained about the problems faced by hospital staff in mental health and how to deal with them. The session was interactive and informative.DrJoshy Thomas presided over the function.Dr. ShameerC Sulaimanproposed the vote of thanks

October 11^th.:Executive Committee Meeting

The first Executive meeting for the year was held at IMA House, Kanippayyur on October 11^th. The list of ex-officio, co-opted and nominated members was declared by the President. There was a discussion about the upcoming state conference and details regarding accommodation and conveyance for the attending members, problems of the NMC Bill and opinions regarding the enrollment of non doctor spouses as SSSS members were discussed.Planned Activities of October were detailed. WIMA annual report for 2015-16 which has been sent to the State was submitted for display in the branch to the President by Dr. Geetha Devi, Convenor.

October 16^th .:World Elders Month Pragram at Pazhanji

In connection with World Elders Month ,IMAKunamkulam organized a medical camp for the elderly at Pazhanji on 16-10-2016.Care of Elderly Chairman Dr.C.P.Ravunnikuttydeclared that IMA Kunnamkulam remains committed to the cause of Elderly care and will continue the SnehapoorvamVayojanagalkku project which was started last year .We will continue  to organize other camps and programs for the elderly this year too.Dr.C.P.RavunnikuttyandDrGeetha Devi examined the patients.

October 16^th .:World Sight Day and World Elders Month Program at Anaikal, Kunnamkulam

OCTOBER 25^th .:CME and General Body

1st CME and 2^ndGeneral body meeting of IMA Kunnamkulam for the year was held on October 25^th at IMA House, Kanippayyur.

President welcomed all members to the meeting.Dr. K Rajagopal introduced the speaker Dr. C P Karunadas, Additional Professor, Cardiology, Govt Medical College,Thrissur.  Dr. Karunadas took an excellent lecture on CHOLESTEROL-NEWER ASPECTS. The topic was well discussed and an appreciation memento was given to him by senior Physician Dr ND Varghese on behalf of IMA Kunnamkulam.

ECG quiz of IMA AMS was conducted by Dr. Akhil, Cardiologist, Unity Heart Centre, Kanippayyur. He explained the answer of the ECG quiz – BRUGADA SYNDROME. The prize was won by Dr. MohammedNisar and Koshy George.

An awareness talk on national medical commission bill was given by past IMA state president Dr. K V Devadas.

President Dr. Joshy Thomas welcomed all WIMA members for the Installation of WIMA office Bearersand handed over the proceedings to outgoing WIMA Chairperson Dr. R Padmasini. Dr. ThilakavathyAmmayar was installed as chairperson and Dr. Jasmi Jerry as secretary and Dr. Smitha as treasurer.

Copies of the annual reports of 2015-16 were submitted to the General Body by IPP Dr. C P Ravunnikkutty and Past WIMA Chairperson Dr. R. Padmasini respectively.

President requested memberes to register for upcoming state conference PeriyarMedfest at CIALConvention Centre, Kochi .

October27^th .:Give Blood Save Life Project

‘GIVE BLOOD SAVE LIFE PROJECT’ of IMA Kunnamkulam was inaugurated 27th of October at Govt. Model Boys HSS, Kunnamkulam. Identifying the needs of a community where sophisticated Blood Bank facilities are not readily available, IMA Kunnamkulam recognized the need for the community to establish a rapport with the existing blood bank facilities. In the first such program, IMA Kunnamkulam joined hands with IMA blood bank Thrissur  and NSS branch of Govt. Model  Boy’s HSS to organize a Blood Donation Camp at Boys HS School. Over 60 persons donated blood. The Program was inaugurated by Municipal Chairperson Smt.SeethaRavindren.IMA President Dr.Joshy Thomas presided and gave the Blood Donation Message.

October28^th .: Dealing With Diabetes Project

‘DEALING WITH DIABETES PROJECT’  of IMA Kunnamkulamwas initiated on 28th of October . Under this project IMA Kunnamkulam plans to conduct 50 free medical camps on a weekly basis for diabetic patients in association with South Zone Diabetic Centre, Kunnamkulam every Friday this year. Dr. Shameer C. Sulaiman, secretary of IMA Kunnamkulam is the chairman of the project. The first program under the project – FREE FRIDAY DIABETIC CLINIC of IMA Kunnamkulam was conducted today. Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman examined the patients. Free Blood Sugar estimation was done. 23 patients attended the free clinic.

October28^th .:ArogyaMythri Village Adoption

IMA Kunnamkulam has adopted Karikkad village near Akkikavu for the Village Adoption Program of ArogyaMythri for this year. At the inaugural function today, IMA Kunnamkulam Secretary Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman declared that IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Chandanam Charitable Trust, Karikkad will conduct free medical camps every month on the Last Friday of each month. There will be other programs and health education classes in addition to this. In the first program conducted today, Mr. Yesudas, Secretary of Chandanam Charitable Trust welcomed the audience. Dr. Shameer C Sulaiman took a health education class on Lifestyle Diseases. Mr. Shafi proposed vote of thanks on behalf of the villagers. In the medical camp which followed, Dr. Shameer C Sulaimanexamined the patients. Free medicines were given. 21 patients attended the camp today

October30^th .: World Stroke Day and Anti Quackery Day Programs

IMA Kunnamkulam in association with WIMA Kunnamkulam observed World Stroke Day and Anti Quackery Day at a well attended function held today at IMA House, Kanippayyur today. WIMA convenorDr. Jasmi Jerry welcomed the audience. WIMA representative Mrs. BencyJoshy introduced thetopics . A health education class on Stroke prevention and treatment  was given  by Consultant Physician Dr. Shaji PS. The talk was attended by more than 70 people including patients and bystanders as well as local auto and taxi drivers. IMA Kunnamkulam President Dr.Joshy Thomas presided over the function. Dr. Joshy Thomas gave ahealth awareness talk on Being aware regarding quackery and precautions to be taken by the public. Dr. Jerry Joseph proposed the vote of thanks.

October30^th .:Sahayahastham Free Monthly Medical Camp

This year’s first Free Monthly Medical Camp under the Sahayahastham Project of IMA Kunnamkulam was conducted at IMA House ,Kanippayyur on 30^th of October, 2016, in which 70 patients were examined by Dr.Shaji  P S &Dr.JoshyThomas. Free Blood Sugar estimation was part of the programme. Free medicines for one month were distributed.

October 31^st.:NDEP Course for Paramedical Staff

IMA Kunnamkulam in association with South Zone Hospitals and Research Centre started  theNational Diabetes Educators Program (NDEP) course for paramedical staff 2016 -2017 in a function held atSHRC  at 12 noon on 31^st of October.Past President of IMA Kerala State  Dr. K V Devadas  inaugurated the programme. IMA Kunnamkulam President Dr. JoshyThomaspresided over the function and introduced the course programme. IMA Kunnamkulam SecretaryDr. Shameer C Sulaiman will be the  Course Trainer and  will take the classes for the students.  12 students will be trained per month. The course is a combined venture of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Education Academy (DMDEA), Indian Association of Diabetes Educators (IADE) and the Indian Medical Association. IMA Kunnamkulam has decided to start this course for this year as part of Dealing with Diabetes Project, in order to have an effective method of educating the public regarding care of diabetes.

August 2^nd (Executive Meeting)

 

Meeting started with a silent prayer. President welcomed all members.

He detailed the election process to be conducted on 11^th  August. It was decided that polling time will be between 7 PM and 10 PM.

Returning officer for Branch elections Dr.Madhusudhanan detailed the branch election process which will be conducted on the same day after the  CME.

President presented a proposal for conducting a half day CME in Association with DTF on September 11^th .

It was decided to celebrate Onam on September 17^th  Reception to state leaders is planned on the same day.

Meeting concluded at 9.40 PM.

 

August 4^th (Awareness Classes on Breast Feeding)

 

In connection with Breast feeding week IMA Kunnamkulam conducted awareness classes about breast feeding and its importance to women of childbearing age. Dr.K.R Mukesh, Dr.Saraswathi and Dr.Sreekala conducted the classes. IAP Kunnamkulam chapter and Innerwheel club of Rotary Kunnamkulam were also associated in this program.

August 7^th ( Mega Medical Camp and Eye Check up at Kunnamkulam)

 

IMA in association with WIMA conducted free medical camp at Bethany convent Girls Higher Secondary School Kunnamkulam. Mrs.Seetha Raveendran, Municipal Chairperson inaugurated the function. Dr.Ravunnikutty, Dr.N.D.Varghese, DrRema Mukesh, Dr.Raveendran, Dr.Prithi, Dr.Lisa, Dr.Saraswathi, Dr.Bineesh, DrAnnie Babu, Dr.Honey, Dr.Lisy and Dr.Merriyet examined patients and free medicines were given. Eye Check up was done and Free spectacles were also given. Blood sugar estimation and blood group detection also conducted. About 800 patients were examined in the camp.

August 11^th ( CME/General Body/State Election)

 

State elections started at 7.00PM after official proceedings at our branch. Dr.L.N.Viswanathan was the Polling Officer.

General body started at 8.20 PM after Collaring of President by the Secretary with a silent prayer.

President welcomed the chief guest and all the members to the meeting.

He detailed all the programs conducted and the forthcoming programs.

Secretary readout the minutes of last meeting and was passed.

Dr.Koshy George introduced the Guest speaker Dr.Jayaprakash, HOD Of Orthopaedics, Amala Medical College.

Dr.Jayaprakash conducted the CME about Osteoporosis and Vitamin D. This Excellent talk was followed by interactive session. Dr.AsokVarma presented memento to Chief Guest.

Dr.Ravunnikutty presented Ethic pearls of August.

Dr.Shaji.P.S.conducted X Ray Quiz, prize was won by Dr.Joshy Thomas..

Returning Officer Dr Madhusudhanan conducted the Election of the Branch Office Bearers .The president declared the elected members.

Dr.Shameer Sulaiman expressed vote of thanks. Meeting was adjourned at 9.15 PM after National Anthem.

State elections continued till 10.00 pm .

August 14^th (Snehapoorvam Vayojanangalkku – Medical Camp and Awareness Class)

 

IMA in association with WIMA conducted monthly medical camp for the elderly at Pazhanji. Dr.Koshy George conducted an awareness class on osteoporosis. Dr.Ravunnikutty and Dr.Geetha Devi examined patients and free medicines were given

August 15^th (Independence Day Programs)

8.30 AM :President Dr.Ravunnikutty conducted the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and hoisted the National Flag at IMA House, Kanippayyur.

August 18^th ( Special School Monthly Medical Check up)

 

Monthly medical checkup held at CHAITHANYA Special School Kunnamkulam, Dr Shaji.P,S.examined the students.

 

August 25^th (Oxygen Cylinder for Pain and Palliative Unit)

 

IMA Kunnamkulam conducted a donation of Oxygen Cylinder to Pain and Palliative unit of Kunnamkulam on a special function organized at Pain and Palliative Unit centre.

August 28^th ( Eye Donation Fortnight Programs)

 

Program at Chemmannur

In Connection with Eye Donation Fortnight IMA Kunnamkulam in association with Sree Murukan Club Chemmannur  Conducted Vision Check Up Camp at Chemmannur. Muncipal Chairperson Seetha Raveendran inaugurated the Camp. Health Inspector Mr.Asokan.P.G.presided the function. Dr.Shaji.P.S. took an awareness class on Eye Donation. During the function, 20 members of the club volunteered for eye donation and Consent forms were handed over. Booklet about Eye Donation was released and distributed. More than 100 persons were examined in the camp.

Program at Pazhanji

IMA in association with WIMA,observed Eye Donation Fortnight  in the Sangeetha Club  Hall, Pazhanji. Panchayath President  Sadanandan Master inaugurated the function. Dr.Ravunnikutty conducted awareness class on Eye Donation .During the function, a Pamphlet on eye donation was released by the Panchayath President and distributed to the audience. Consent forms for eye donation were given to the members and 32 members were ready for eye donation. Eye check up and BP check up were done. Dr.Geetha Devi rendered Vote of Thanks.

July 1^st : Doctors’ Day Celebration

The Doctors’ Day Family Meeting started at 8.15 pm with a prayer by Dr.Mallika Harikrishnan.

President welcomed the Chief Guest of the day Father.Pathrose, Principal St. John’s Bethany HS School Kunnamkulam, and all the members and their families. He also welcomed all the invited guests of Indian Dental Association,Rotary Club, Lion’s Club ,Press Club and Comates Circle of Kunnamkulam.

President spoke about Dr.B.C.Roy and Doctor’s Day .

Chief Guest Father Pathrose inaugurated the function . In his inaugural address he stressed the importance of human values and contribution of doctors to the society.

Dr.Koshy George delivered the Doctor’s Day Message, laying emphasis on the need for building up close inter-personal relationships with patients in order to prevent attacks against doctors and hospitals..

Felicitations were done by invited guests of Rotary,Lions,IDA,Press,and Comates club of Kunnamkulam.

Senior doctors of IMA who turned into their sixties, Dr.Madhusudhan C.K and Dr. Ashok Varma were honoured.

Students of 10^th  and 12^th  from IMA Family who scored high in their examinations were honoured.

Patient Care Fund certificates were distributed to those members who contributed.

Quarterly Edition of Pulse was released by Editor Dr.Saju P.K. by handing over a copy of it to the Chief Guest.

There was an exhibition of Wild life photographs taken by the Chief Guest at the hall.

Memento was given to chief guest by President Dr.Ravunnikutty as a token of Appreciation.

Dr. Rajesh Krishnan was the Master of ceremony for the whole function.

Meeting started with a silent prayer at 8.30 pm .

President welcomed all members to the meeting.

Committee nominated Dr. Madhusudhanan as Returning officer for the Branch Election.

State Elections and Branch elections should be on 11^th  August.

It was decided to register for 15 members for State CGP conference at Perinthalmanna.

It was decided to conduct Onam Celebrations on 17^th  September.

July 8^th : Prevention of Diabetic Blindness Program (PDB) – Awareness class and Screening camp

Prevention of Diabetic Blindness Program (PDB) of IMA Kunnamkulam in association with AIOS Kunnamkulam was inaugurated at South Zone Diabetic Centre by Dr. C. P. Ravunnikutty. Dr. Shameer C. Sulaiman took a health education class on Diabetic blindness. Dr. Sheeja Unnikrishnan proposed vote of thanks. Patients were screened for diabetic retinopathy by Dr.Ravunnikutty,Dr.Shija Unnikrishnan and Dr. P. J. Joseph.

Conducted PDB camp at Puthusseri colony also by Dr.Ravunnikutty .

July 11^th : World Population Day program at Punnayurkulam – Awareness class

In connection with World Population Day conducted a Health Education class about adolescent health problems and health hazards of child marriage at Santhi Nursing Home Punnayurkulam. Dr Saraswathi took the class.

 

July 17^th : Arogyajalakom medical camp and Awareness classes at Kariyampra

IMA Kunnamkulam in association with WIMA under Arogyajalakam project conducted medical camp and health education class at adopted 3^rd Ward of Kariyampra Panchayath,Pazhanji. Panchayath President. Mr.Sadanandan Master inaugurated the camp.Dr.Ravunnikutty presided the function. Ward member M.S.Manikandan has given the felicitation. Dr.Sudhiraj conducted class about Immunisation Schedule and its importance  in the current scenario.               Dr.GeethaDevi conducted class about Rainy Season Diseases and its prevention and distributed  leaflets about Rainy season diseases prepared by Dr.Saju  P.K.

July 22^nd : Nurses’ training program at Punnayurkulam     

IMA Kunnamkulam conducted training class for Nursing staff and pharmacists at Santhi Nursing Home, Punnayurkulam.

Dr.Shaan conducted the program..The training was about usage of Inhalational Devices and Nebulisers for Asthma patients.

July 26^th :General body meeting and monthly CME

Meeting started with a silent prayer after official Collaring of the President by the Secretary

President welcomed the Chief Guest and all members. He detailed all the programs conducted by IMA after the last General Body meeting.

General body ratified the appointment of Dr.Madhusudhanan as the Returning officer by the Executive Committee.

President detailed the forthcoming State Elections and Branch elections on August 11^th  .

Dr.Rajesh Krishnan introduced the chief guest Dr.Rennis Davis .

Dr.Rennis Davis gave an excellent lecture on SMOKING CESSATION which was followed by an interactive session.Dr.Sundaresh Kumar presented a memento to Dr.Rennis as a token of appreciation.

Ethical pearls and Xray Quiz was conducted by Dr.Tomy .

Dr.Rajesh Krishnan and Dr.Ajith won the prizes of Xray Quiz .

Dr.Madhusudhanan detailed the Election formalities.

IMA Kunnamkulam appreciated Dr.Mohan for being awarded as the best doctor of the year by the Government.

In connection with World Hepatitis Day IMA Kunnamkulam and WIMA conducted health education class at IMA House.Dr.Ravunnikutty Inaugurated the program.Dr.GeethaDevi conducted class about prevention of Hepatitis.Dr Shaji.P.S. conducted class about Viral Hepatitis and its treatment. Leaflets about water born diseases were distributed to the audience.
